Glad you like your RD and he is helping you out. I hope you tolerate the MTX well, too. Yes to me that sounds correct. Because my muscles swell only when my joints do. He said something is badly wrong. Well i have been trying to tell people that forever. I just think for you and me it has been lack of treatment for years. They are used to seeing people that have gotten treatment. That is just my thoughts on the matter. They expect i just got this and i have to explain i have been running into brick walls for years.Well i can not blame the pred for the swelling i do this when i do not take pred. This is just the way i swell.I am with you Milly, I absolutely love my Rheumatologist. Oh we have had out ups and downs but I have to say, he has always taken good care of me regardless of what the problem was and ALWAYS helped me find a way to get the medicaitons he thought I needed.
A good Rheumatolgist is very hard to find....this is why I drive so far and out of state to mine.
I hope you find some relief soon! FIbro is hard to live with, both RA and fibro are hard to deal with.....
HI Milly, I am so glad you like your RD, it can make such a difference to us if we are happy with our team. Now I just wish you luck with the meds and I hope you can keep working. Best of luck, Janie.
Milly, is this the same young doc that you said you didn't like a week or so ago? Glad you've changed your mind. You must have just been in a foul mood that last time. In fact I think you said you were. At any rate, I am so glad to read your post, I think their is some light now at the end of your tunnel.
But I missed any posts about a job. What is it you do?I am a freightbroker so it is my job to get your grocieries to the store. Or whatever to where ever. I am actually an independent contractor so i work from home. It is almost busy season and i want to do a good job. I may have to hire some help? Actually my sons girlfriend will help me if i need it. I need to be able to focus. I do not want to sound like a crazy lady on the phone. Luckily everything has spell check in the computer system. LOL But the math. I just do not want to be scater brained. Mostly i just have to be awake and coherent. So my son wakes me up in the morning to take my medicine. If the meds are just right i have been able to work. I am lucky i am able to take a few weeks off at the moment and hope i can get things straight. At least for a little while. I have back up help if i need it. I was not doing so well for awhile and it really bumbed me out. Like sleeping for months was just not a good thing.Milly, I have a question about the fentanal patch the doctor gave you. I'd never heard of it before today when I read an article in the paper about a 17-year-old who died in his sleep from putting two fentanal patches on that he had stolen. Apparently they're very popular with the kids these days because they're so powerful. Did the doctor give you any warnings about it?
He said to use it as directed and not to cut them in half or anything. Thanks for letting me know. I will make sure the one patch is removed before putting on the other one. Actually i am pariniod about even trying new meds. I always go over everything with the pharmasist before using anything. Then i have people on hand to keep an eye on me. The kids in my house do not use drugs. I know this because they are always home and hang out with me or my son or an adult family member, Mom,Aunt, Uncle . They spend time with each other and on rare occasion will have a friend spend the night. But we keep things locked up in a lock box for extra precaution. It's not that we make them hang around with us, they just choose to. I don't blame them it's a scary world out there.Hi Milly,
I take the fentanyl patch. I have been on them since September. I always remove the patch before I put on my new patch. Don't cut them and be careful if you go in a hot tub because they release more medication if your body temp raises up. I have worked and worn my patch and never had problems. I also put on my new patch at night before bed because I think that the new patch emits more medication that a three day old patch (that might be my imagination though). The patch has made a difference between remaining stiff and unable to function, and having a bit of flexibility. I could not function without mine. I'm glad you like your new doctor! Good luck! Thanks Milly, I feel better. After I posted the last time I read your other thread about the patch and learned there are different strengths, so I'm thinking that kid must have stolen some pretty high dosage stuff in an attempt to get high. I was shocked that he died and there was no sign of any other drug in his system. That's what's so scary. A patch seems so benign and I'm sure he didn't realize he could absorb enough into his body to kill him. (Sigh) Jesse882008-03-20 06:45:54Hi Jessie88,
I was reading your post and was thinking that the kid that stole that patch probably died because he stopped breathing. The opiate in the patch can suppress the wearers ability to breathe, especially if they have not taken a steady dose of pain killer. It clearly states that in the handout that you're given with the patch. I have worn patches for about 6 months now and without them I could not function. I think they are safe if used as prescribed. I know that I have my patches hidden because they are an item that someone may steal. I had people in my house doing some work and you never know. I had my pain pills stolen once from my bathroom. Well I hope you are well. How are you doing with your injections? Have a good day, HG
Hi HG. I guess that explains what happened. I can't believe how out of the loop I am. I had never even heard of those patches before that article and then there were Milly's posts on the same day about them. I'm sure it's like anything else. In the right hands it's perfectly safe and in the wrong hands, deadly. So sad about that young man.
My injection went well with no nausea or headache this time. I still have a little MTX left in the vial and was wondering if I could use up that and take more from another to get my full dose next week. The pharmacist said OK even though it has no preservative, as long as I have been good about wiping the bottle with alcohol before each injection, which I have. I want to use every last drop and not waste it. I decided to go ahead with the MTX and see how it goes with my cough. It's still there, but better so I guess I'll just carry on. Thanks for asking.
Hey Jessie88,
That's great to hear you're doing well. I am also glad to hear that you had no side effects this time. I'm like you as I hate leaving insulin in the vial. It's only good for 30 days so there are times I have to throw it out and I think what a waste.
My RD told me she may add MTX to my mix as well if I don't show any improvement on the plaquinil. Time will tell. Well I just wanted to let you know I was wondering how you were getting on. Take Care, HG
