Wedding rings don't fit swollen ring finger | Arthritis Information

It's really all my fingers that are swollen.  As a result, it's been awhile since I've been able to wear my beautiful engagement ring, but my wedding ring is slightly larger so that's been alright.  Just as I was finally getting ready to break down and have the engagement ring made a little larger, now I'm having trouble with my wedding ring, too.

I held out for a long time on wanting to resize because I kept hoping my fingers would "resize".  But the longer that goes on, the more I wonder if it will ever happen.  The engagement ring is easy enough to stretch because it has a small portion that's thin and plain.  The wedding ring has a design all the way around and I'm sure resizing would affect the way it looks, if it's even possible.  We could buy a slightly larger replacement, but I'd rather have the one I got married with.

For those of you that are married, are you still able to wear your engagement and/or wedding rings?  Did you have them resized?  Did you do something different?
The funny thing is my "ring finger" has never changed in size from either damage/larger knuckle/swelling.  But I just don't wear my rings anymore, unless I'm going somewhere where I'm going to be dressed up.
What about wearing them on a chain as a necklace until you feel for sure your fingers won't  change...then possibly going to have them resized later.
I have to take mine off at night time or I wake up in the morning and my fingers are bulging. They are very tight but i have had them made bigger. I might have to wear them on a chain round my neck. I spent the whole holiday season without rings.  My husband has given me such pretty rings over the years, but on one particular bad night I almost couldn't get them off.  It was really scary, so I rarely wore any for about a month and a half.  I'm responding so well to my meds now that my swelling is minimal. i couldnt wear mine for about 6 months, then i was given methotrexate and i can wear them again I couldn't wear mine for about 6 months, but once the meds started working, I was able to again.   I'd try the chain idea first, just in case the swelling goes down. If you do have it resized take it some place reputable and has a diamond tester handy. Lots of stone switchers out there. i rarely wear mine, just too tight right now.   i am hoping when the weather and my body calm down they will fit again.I haven't worn mine for years. I had it cut off the first time while pregnant with my first child and then resized after. Then swelled up again and had it cut off again when having my second child. We had it fixed again and wore it but have not been able to due to ra swelling. I did have a Mother's ring that is beautiful I  wore for a while but not it doesn;t fit. I am afraid to put my rings on a chain because I'm afraid it will break and I will lose it, so I will just probably give it to my daughter one day.I haven't been able to put mine on since i had the first big flair 3yrs ago.  Every time i try, it swells.I don't have the problem of getting my wedding band on, I just can't get it off! Mine are TIGHT!Mine are snugger than they were when I got married 3 years ago. They used to spin around then. Now, I take them off at night, just like Pin, because if I don't, in the am they will be stuck.I can wear mine now and then. But I had JRA when I got married and knew what happens, so I got my rings a size larger than I needed, so whenever my fingers, if they even aren't swollen, the rings are too big and spin, but most of the time they are fine, some days I can't wear them at all though. But with the joint damage having them a size bigger has made all the differenceI invented my ringlock system that addresses exactly these issues.
ringlock.com explaines it all.
Wonder if this might work for someone?

Had mine sized three sizes up -- and now they are getting loose as I've been losing weight. Here's a possible solution -- though a bit on the pricey side, a very good idea:

BTW - this is just one company of many that makes a arthritis ring shank -- I don't endorse any particular company -- just for reference.I haven't been able to wear my engagement or wedding ring in 5 years. Ihave an old gold band that I wear instead. I suppose I should just get my ring resized. I wear my wedding band on my pinky finger due to the swelling of my fingers. It has been this way now for over 4 yrs that I have had to do that. meme
