Anyone hands hurt badly? | Arthritis Information

I learned I had  RA in November of 1991after 4 surgeries to remove huge synovial cysts from my hands. I still have the same RD. For years my hands have been fine ( although numb from all the damage and surgeries, fine nonetheless).

Recently my hands have been just killing me, more painful than years ago with more limited mobility.I used to be able to use a drill up till about 2 weeks ago, could still cursive write and have it be readable and had not a problem painting or doing my hair. I will be curious when I go to my RD in the summer if he finds the RA is taking over again.

Anyone have this happen? I think my last surgery was in 1994. If it is happening again then I am thankful for the time without the pain and  all the things I was able to do, but I have to say it is still disheartening.
Hand problems are really the worst thing aren't they? I get bummed out every time mine hurt. Sounds like a flare. I would call the RD if you can't get it under control.

Maybe the better question would be :

Can the nerves in your hands regenerate over a period of lets say 14 years to the point that you identify the sensation as pain?

(I suppose whether it is causal, another nerve problem or nerves regenerating would be a great question for the RD huh?)
Good point, maybe a cortisone shot is in order. HEre I go again............Probably need to have the bone scan done and let's not forget the hip prob. Jode, I use to do a lot of county painting on saw's and wood .  I haven't been able to pick up a brush in about 21/2 yr's.  I never new why my hands hurt so bad until about 8months's ago.  If try to write I to have to stop and rub my hand's and rest a while then I start up again. I keep hoping the Enbrel will kick in......Yeah it is really hard to deal with at times. Not that I use a drill or the dremel that much, I just like doing little projects and fix things cause a carpenter is too expensive. I wanted to design and make a toy chest for my upcoming grandson, paint it and stain it and all....make it whimsical and fun. Last summer I managed to build a skirt under the deck from treated wood..(Don't look too close though  :)  and I wanted to make some really cool welcome signs but it is not gonna happen. I got to rest my hands and do some PT exercises like I used to after the surgeries I guess.

When I start dropping things and have to use the heating pad at night on my hands and can barely hold the hair dryer and brush....that is my signal that my hands are goin', that something is going on.......again, this time it is much worse.

This cannot happen. I have to take it easy cause I have a grandbaby comin' and I am gonna hold him and pick him up and be the grandmommy I always wanted to be....RA will not, and I repeat  WILL NOT take that away from me too.
