What exactly do you do or do they do when you go?  I have to get one done soon, i got a week left out of a month, i kept puting it off lol. They aren't bad, you strip and were that dumb cloth gown.  it doesn't hurt, the bed you lay on isn't too comfortable, but the test doesn't hurt. Its like a super power xray/ultrasound. Not bad at all, don't be scared, easiest test you will ever take! This is the easiest test ever!  No prep, no shots, no nothing.  You just lay there quietly on the table while the machine goes over you (usually hip and lower back area) and takes pictures/x-rays.  That's it!    Notin' to it! Thank you!

I get poked monthly with enough needles for multiple people and i just don't want to do it again.  This sounds like a good thing. :)
I just had one on Monday.
Kept clothes on just had to have elastic waist pants- no metal, zippers, etc. below waist.

Laid on table with knees over wedge pillow. Hold still while a hood like scanner goes back and forth from neck to toes.

I get my results at my RD tonight. He prescribed Fosamax but I didn't start taking them. I figure if the scan shows I need them I will. If not....I'm tired of swallowing pills....
Yep! I love the bone density scan. If it was longer I would probably fall asleep, like I did during the nuclear bone scan LOL! Some reason while I am doing them scans I feel sleepy, like it soothes me. [/QUOTE]

Me too!!!
I have had it done too.....it is so easy, can be relaxing. You just keep still and this machine goes over your body.

I had a really nasty tech one time though. I told my Rheumatologist about it and he said he would take care of it and he did. THe way I see it, we suffer enough with all this pain. ect we do not need a nasty tech.

Yep, like they all said.  Easiest test you'll ever take.  No nerves needed.
