Diflucan with MTX? Is it safe? | Arthritis Information

Has anyone ever taken Diflucan with MTX? I'm coming around to the knowledge that I have Candida issues that need to be addressed. I have to go on a one year anti-Candida diet, but since I can't start that until fall due to my road trip, I've been thinking of taking the Diflucan my doctor prescribed me for a yeast infection several months ago. I never took it because it's really hard on your liver and I'm already taking MTX (which of course my Dr who gave me the Diflucan is aware of). Diflucan and MTX are contradicted on drugs.com because they are both hard on your liver, but the Diflucan dose is ONE pill, not a whole series like drug.com assumed.].

So I'm thinking maybe I should take this Diflucan. It's like the atom bomb for yeast in your system.

Does anyone have any sage advice, words of wisdom, or practical experience to share?I also had a candida problem...mouth thrush...with MTX and took Diflucan.  Though the drugs didn't cause me any problems, it  wasn't very effective either.  Finally I gave up and stopped the MTX.  The candida disappeared within a month and has not returned.  I now take Arava instead of MTX and have not had any problems.

I have taken diflucan with MTX.  Never had a problem.

Hi there,

I have taken Diflucan with MTX with no problem.  But was told by pharmacist that a daily dose of  acidolphilus capsule will help to keep the yeast down in your system.  It can be found in the herbal meds dept.

Hope this helps.
Thanks Dobine. I already take an amazing amount of probiotics, as well as eating probiotic foods several times a day. I think my problem is sytemic. It does help a lot but I think my problem with yeast is full blown Candida, which probiotics can prevent but not cure.
