Getting worse? | Arthritis Information

I've been flaring for a few weeks and have had to
increase my pred to 10-15 mg. again. But it seems
lately like it's getting worse. I know part of the pain in
my knees and ankles is due to weight, but it's pretty
bad in my wrists too. (also my jaw feels like bone
rubbing on bone??).

Do you think this means that the remicade isn't
working or I need a larger doseage or something?
I've had 4 treatments so far. He increased the
dosage on the last one and I did feel better
afterwards, but only for about 3 weeks. My next one
is not until the 22nd. I'm getting to where, as tired as
I am, I kind of dread bedtime because it is so hard to
sleep.

Anyway just curious as to other's opinions
/experiences.

Thanks

Tara, do you have TMJ or is it the RA?  I'm sorry you are feeling so badly.  Can you get an increase in your meds or can they decrease your time between shots.  I haven't had the remicade yet so I'm not sure how it works.  I take lots of pred but as usual when it gets decreased things start to escalate a little more.  I hope you can get some answers soon.  Your jaw sounds terrible.  I hope you can eat.  Maybe the doc can get you in sooner if you can't eat.  Hope you get some results soon!

Tara,  I know what you mean about not wanting to go to bed because you just concentrate on the pain.  I stay up late now even though I like to get up early because I want to be sure I am good and tired to sleep.  I need distractions from the pain.  Muscle relaxers at bedtime have been helping me.  Maybe four treatments is not enough to get the full benefits of Remicade.  Talk to your rd.  I am praying to get off of pred. once I am on the Enbrel.  The pred. is making me crazy.  I sure hope you get relief soon.  Let us know what happens.

PS  I am also on 10-15 mg. pred.  My rd would like me to be at twenty but I am afraid I might murder somebody at twenty

Just thought I'd give my 2 cents...

Tara; I have never taken Remicade; but with Humira an increase in my dose certainly helped with the wearing off problem. An increase has always helped me no matter which medication it was.

And if you aren't taking something to help you sleep already please consider it. You can cope with the days better if you rest well at night.

Good Luck.
