OMG!!!  My neighbor just called to see if I wanted to talk the reporter and cameraman that showed up at her house! (Um, no, hell no....)  They are covering our crime wave.  Oh boy, won't the neighbors with houses on the market be happy about that????  And I said why are they knocking on doors at night in a neighborhood with a crime problem, scaring people????

She told them no, she is already in her pj's and her hubby isn't home.  I said no, I'm not going on TV as the only person who has seen the guy and his vehicle  - hello???  Hubby said no, he has had two beers while watching the game.

She wanted to know who else to call.  My, what lazy reporters, getting her to do all their legwork in her pj's.  I said I didn't know, but that you could see the plywood on the back of the house that was broken into, if she wanted to point them over there to get a shot for the 11:00 show.

Good news is the police are SATURATING our neighborhood.  Roadblocks.  Must be undercover patrols, because people I've never seen before are taking morning strolls.  Patrol cars.  Unmarked cars.  BICYCLE PATROLS.  Our tax dollars at work, yippeee!!!  I do feel safe!  Wish they could keep it like this all the time!!!
LOL! I don't know if this is some thing to be happy about or not!

Take the good with the bad I guess??????
It is kind of exciting, being patrolled all the time LOL.  Like when we lived in Savannah, always an element of danger.  True story:  I woke up to screams and called 911.  They caught a guy attacking a girl in a car near our apt.  The police came back to our apt. and said we had "really saved her".  I went to court for it, too.  While the witnesses were waiting, I met the girl and one of the cops.  I said, "Hey, you were the cop when my purse was snatched!" and the girl said, "He was the cop when my purse was snatched, too!" and the cop said, "I know.  I live near both of you now, too."  Small crime world, Savannah was.  AAAAHHHH - on TV, they just did a news tease and showed my neighborhood!!!  In daylight!!!  They have been here all day???  At least more than once today!  Then they had a voiceover of a woman saying, "They wasted their time coming to my house.  There isn't anything here worth stealing."  See, they didn't need me after all, that's what I would have said.Hey, Suzanne... I lived in Savannah for 4 years... I know what you mean!

Mostly petty stuff... I always worried about having my purse grabbed or my car broken into, especially when I lived downtown.

Memories!  All the news camaras. I bet everyone will get all fixed up to go to the grociery store or jogging for a bit. Years ago i went to visit a girl in St. Peterberg Fl. I was there about five minutes she had gone to the store. I heard a woman screaming for help and called the police. The policeman came back to tell me it was just a protatute having trouble with her pimp. As if i had over reacted to blood cuteralling screams. I'm sorry if i hear someone screaming for help i am calling the police. Carolina Girl - we lived on East Gaston St., near Johnny Ganem's.  The very last edge of the historic district.  Most of our neighbors were drunks living off trust funds or personal injury settlements.  They were all loaded, in more ways than one, and most ended up being evicted.  Yes, a lot of petty, crazy crime.  One neighbor was naked in the street, shooting off a shotgun (Police to hubby:  "If you hear a gun off, why would you want to come outside?").  A trust-funder was arrested for breaking into parking meters.

NEW CRIME WAVE here, in another neighborhood!  While you eat in a restaurant, thieves break into your car and steal your garage door opener, then use your tag or VIN to find out your address.  They break into your house while you are eating.  I guess the people cannot tell their car was broken into, because they say they don't realize anything is wrong until they get home and try to open their garage door.  Cops say hide the opener, or take it with you.
Well, we're safe... no garage door opener... no garage door period!!!  We live in an older house, and most of the garages in the neighborhood are quite small.  There's barely room to put a car in it, and if you get the car in, you certainly would not be able to close the door. My aunt had a freind that was killed in her garage. Our washer and dryer is in the garage. That is why i went out to get my socks one night and was a little parniod. I thought well my son is awake on the computer if there is a problem. I did not think about him having the headphones on and not hearing me. His girl friend was having a bad day and had took some valiums and went to the garage with a sleeping bag and camped out on the carpet in the garage for some privacy i guess. I did not know she was out there. I was already scared to go out there at night. She sat up and said what is going on. I just started screaming. Which starteled her and she started screaming. My son did not even hear us. Stupid headphones. [QUOTE=milly]My aunt had a freind that was killed in her garage. Our washer and dryer is in the garage. I don't mean to be insensitive... but OMG that is hilarious!  Sounds like a modern-day I Love Lucy episode!!!
