Today at the Ortho Doc | Arthritis Information

Made a beeline to the ortho guy today. Wanted some relief with the rheum out of town. I've been getting pain in my hip and lower back that has been really beyond painful.

He does not think I have a herniated disc. He put me on Relafen 1500 daily (I took this before when I had inflammation from bilateral ulnar nerve transpositions). That and some exercise.

Since I was talking to a doctor, I asked him about the bumps on my toes. One is on the right big toe joint and the other is on the left second toe joint. He said they were bone spurs. From what I read this appears to be Heberden and Bouchard nodes.

I didn't ask for a DX, but this sure sounds like some osteoarthritis. I hope the Relafen kicks in fast, but I know that it might take awhile.

Does sound kinda like OA...

Hope the Relafen kicks in soon!
Good luck and hope it works ~~ take care CathyWell in my fight for a dx and i brought this to my GP as i was sure no one would ever run another RF test for me. I said i had a nodule on my finger but middle joint, and bunion on my big toe and i am only 44. He said i don't care about the bunion. LOL But i read somewhere once that it was a sign of RA along with other stuff. But my big toe really , really hurts sometimes. And the bilateral nerve compression thing i have had that before. Sorry you had that. I was told that it was super rare to have bilaterally when i had it. You know that bilateral and RA go together. I am just saying. Keep an eye on yourself. I hope you don't have RA and i hope you feel better soon.My right big toe was xrayed about six years ago and I was told it was OA.  It flares up when I am stupid and wear heels.  It's not rocket science to dx OA. I heard that if you have the nodes, it's practically a given. And those spurs don't happen overnight so it just confirms that despite my recent onset of symptoms, it's not entirely new. There's nothing that I can think of physically external to cause damage to prompt spur growth. I've always worn good shoes that were properly fitted.

I'm looking forward to some relief from the Relafen. Right now that's more important than a dx.

I totally understand. Yes pain stinks. Glad you have something to help you. Hope the new med kicks in soon for you. I know how bad the pain you must be feeling is. I had something similar back in October '07, and the pain I experienced is still fresh in my memory.

Hugs and feel better soon!
Yes, I also understand the pain too, and am so sorry.  I hope the Relafin gives you relief before the weekend!
