Joonie: Am still troubled by your trip to the er. With all your classic symptoms of a stroke was it ever recommended you be put in the hospital?  All hospitals have the technology and meds. needed to initially treat a stroke patient.   Actually all hospitals are not set up for stroke. If you call first they should life line you to a stroke hospital. It is best to have a plan in progress if you are sucebtable to strokes. There was a big article on this several months back. I can not remember if it was in a magazine or the newspaper. There are different types of strokes. This is a serious problem and you want a specialist. They can do so much more now than in the past. But you have to be at the right place. If this is so we live in a state that has exceptional medical care. When my uncle suffered a stroke the medical team attending him took immediate action.

Also, joonie did say there was a triage team. This is something you wouldn't find at a small hospital. Also, the many tests she's had indicates her medical care facility has capabilities a small health care facility wouldn't be able to perform.
I had lived in a rural area of southern Illinois and everyone had to go to Indiana for stroke treatment. No, it was never mentioned to stay in a hospital. GP said it was done and there was nothing they could do for this stroke, but only to prevent another one. He said that it sounded like I had the stroke the night before the symptoms that I went to the ER with. But he could not be for sure which episode was the stroke that caused my face & arm to be numb.

GP said all we can do is see what all has been effected and then go from there. He said some of the mental problems I am having now, could be a result from the stroke or it could be caused by the HBP, which is still not under control even with the increase to 40mg. So, he is keeping an eye on me and if I feel that I am having another one to go to the ER and let them know.

Joonie, are you on any hormonal contraceptives?  Birth control pill, patch, Depo-provera, Nuva-ring, Norplant, etc? No, just a copper IUD. Ok... I was talking to my neighbor when I went to pick up my daughter. And she told me about when she had a stroke and went to the ER and all they did for her was hook her up to a monitor and watched her for an hour or so. They done nothing for her. She did not have a bad stroke, but a small one like mine. SO... I am guessing at our hospital... if you are not paralized by your stroke they do squat for you. That is the way it sounds anyways.

And she also told me of how she had 2 nodules on her thyroid and how they biopsied them and all. So... I have someone who has been thru what I am going thru, which is a good thing. Now if she just had RA.
