Missed You All & questions about Remicade | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone,

Sure have missed you. Like they say...'you don't know what you have 'til it's gone'.  Don't mean to gloss over the 'tearful reunion' but frankly, I've never been very good at them. Thanks to Kimmy and Tina and whoever else may have played a role in bringing AI back to life. It must have been a nightmare.

Anyway, RD wants to start me on Remicade. I'm all for it...Heck, I'll try anything. I was just wondering if some of you might be so kind as to tell me of your experiences with it. I'd appreciate it.

Thanks and Take Care,

Joe

I am currently on Remicade.  I have only had 2 treatments to date and I go back next week for my third.  So far I have had no trouble with it.  It has actually be rather relaxing to go get the treatments.  Basically I am the same age as the nurses so they come back and we gossip quite a bit.  That and watch the Price is Right.  I have not really had any results from it yet.  I was having a really hard time so the dr. upped my prednisone dose so I think I am feeling better from that.  But--it is still really early.  Regardless, I can't take Humira(messed with my nervous system) or Enbrel (reaction) so...this is it for now.  Let me know how it goes and enjoy watching your game shows.

Hi Joe.

Sorry, I don't have any advice for you.  Just wanted to say it's nice seeing you again.  Good luck with the Remicade.  Take care.  Ellen

I have been on Remicade for almost 3 years. For
me it has truly been my miracle - just like on the TV
commercials. Really. BUT,, it was NOT instant
grarification at all. It took several months of dosage
adjustments and interval between dose
adjustments for us to arrive at this spot.
I currently take 2mg prednisone daily, inject 20mg
MTX weekly, 3 mg folic acid daily, along with
500mg Remicade every 6 weeks.
Anything specific that y ou want to know? Just ask.
Best, Jan

Hi!  I have also been on Remicaide for quite a while - two years maybe?  Anyway, it has the RA in good control.  I still get tired easily (of course I do go 90 to nothing all the time

Good luck with the treatment!

Remicade was the miracle drug for me.  Before I started my doc said as bad of shape as I was in the drug would probably work faster. He said the more inflammation there is the better the medicine works...go figure! As I was getting my 1st infusion I joked with the nurse that I wasn't feeling anything yet and we laughed however the next morning I woke up and when I got out of bed...for the first time in years my feet didn't feel broken and that is the how quick it worked for me. I guess my doc was right. I've now been on Remicade for almost 2 years and have had no complications.  The day or two after the infusion I feel tired and I plan nothing for those days its like I give my body a chance to accept the medicine.  After the first couple of infusion I experienced extreme irritability for about a week after but as soon as I noticed it was a problem, talked to my doc, got medicine to calm me down, the problem went away and I didn't even get to take my valium

Good luck with your infusions and let me know how you do and if you have any questions.
