I am taking Coreg CR 40mg and I have to get my RX filled soon. I was wondering will it bother me if I change over to the generic version, since I have been taking the brand name for the last 6 days?

If I change from brand name to generic, will it cause my HP to go high again and my pulse go high again, until my body gets use to the generic?

I had another question, but I forget what it was. Took me over 2 hours to remember this question.

dont generics have the same ingrediants as the name brand?

The same amount of the same active ingredient.

They are also put through dissolution studies to make sure that the same amount of the active ingredient is released in the same time-frame as the brand name.
Ok thanks.

I was just wondering if it was going to mess up the progress I have made. It is not where under control yet, but it is getting better.

Most times if my BP is in the normal range, my pulse is still rapid (118-129). And if my pulse is in the normal range, my BP is high.

Makes no sense to me. When I woke up today they were both semi-normal range 119/86, pulse 96. GP said to check my BP 3 times a day.
One more thing... "Coreg CR" does not have a generic equivalent.  Regular Coreg does have a generic, which is on the list at Walmart and Target.  Coreg and Coreg CR have exactly the same active ingredient, but Coreg CR is extended-release.  Regular Coreg must be taken twice a day.  BUT THEY BOTH WORK THE SAME.
I work for an internal medicine doctor for many years , he would only be a stickler when it came to brand name Coumadin and brand name synthroid, he was fine with all other generics! Generic coumadin is fine, but you can't change generic brands (or change from generic to brand-name Coumadin) because the bioavailability is a bit different between forumulations.  I believe synthorid has the same issue.

It SOUNDS like (I'm guessing here) that this is because your heart is used to trying to pump really hard to get the blood around your body, so this happens:

When your BP is high, your pulse drops because your heart is working harder to pump the blood around. (blood pressure....pumping harder, kwim?)

When your pulse is RACING, your heart hasn't slowed down the pumping anymore, even though whatever was causing the resistance is gone, thus the blood is flowing easier (no high BP, fast pulse)

Anyway, that's what it sounds like to me! Now, you just have ot find out WHY.
That's why God invented Cardiologists. LOL I said I was guessing!! It sounds logical to me!!!Right now I do not want GUEESES. I want to know why my BP & Pulse just decided to go out of whack within the last month or so. I believe HBP is a gradule thing. I had normal BP & pulse when I started Remicade and when I went to all other doctors. First loading dose of remicade, Remicade nurse said my BP & Pulse were normal. Then 2nd loading dose was ok, then the 3rd loading dose my pulse was high, but BP not as close to Hypertension 1 as it was when I went for my first real Remicade infusion, which both were elevated.

But I had not felt like this until the week before my first real Remicade infusion. I only had lightheadedness and some times dizziness, but I thought it was from possibly having a bladder infection again. Which was the only symptom I had that bothered me when I had bladder infections was the lightheadedness and dizziness.

By the following monday after my infusion, it had gotten worse, the lightheadedness and dizziness and I was feeling really tired, but had done nothing. Then it all went down hill from there.

That is all I got. I might think of some more, but right now my head is swimming again and I am just feeling like I need to go to sleep.
Have you been googling? I'd be googling. LoL I can't even help myself.

Maybe you have Evil HBP gnomes living in your blood?
No, not even going to worry about googling since I read that a high diastolic in young people is predicitive of a heart attack or a stroke. Yeah...

Plus I am having a hard time reataining or even remembering what I read, so does me no good.

And GP told of how the biopsy of the nodules on my thyroid were going to be done and I kinda zoned out and panicked after the mention of aspiration. Yeah... NEEDLE! UGH!

Joonie, no offense to everyone on here but in all honesty asking us really wont get you the answers you need.  You need to ask your DR this and find out from him...Write down the questions you have or type them up and print it out

*grumbles*

Well I liked my gnome theory.......
I was not asking why I had HBP. I did ask my GP he said he was not sure, and was working on it. I am just talking about it just to get it out of my system. Helps me to get pass it. I do not ever worry much about anything, I most times go with the freaking flow. This is my way of saying "why me?" Just not that it bothers me that this has happened to me, I just want it fixed or as fixed as possible. If it is the Remicade that caused this, I will not go off of it to fix this. It has helped me emensly and I will add a BP pill or two to my list-o-meds, just so I can be swell-free.

There that is where it all stems from.

That is alot of new imformation for anyone. Well it is normal to be worried about yourself under these circumstances.Keep talking about it Joonie.  Who knows, it may help someone else.   Joonie - I have had a needle biopsy of a nodule on my now long-gone thyroid gland, and it wasn't bad at all.  Honestly, its different than a blood pull.  Cathy

You wanna see what else fuels my fear of needles?

Left arm a week after GP's office drew blood.

Right arm after the ER nurse w/attitude did not listen to me and use my left arm.
Now, just think of how my neck will look when they biopsy?

The Remicade infusion before the last one, I had a bruise on my left hand where remicade nurse inserted the iv in a vein in my hand and it did not go away until like a week before I went back for my next infusion. She could still see the greenish/yellow color it gets when it starts to fade away. So she used a vein next to my thumb.
When they do a needle biopsy they're not aiming for a blood vessel.  The bruising you see after a blood draw/IV is from blood leaking out of the vein they've used to take blood from or administer meds through. I do not think it really matters. Because I bruise too easily. I can bump my hand on the bottom of the desk or going in a door and by that night. I have a nice bruise like you see in the pics above.

I am so lovingly calling everything I took pics of that are a result of the last week as my battle wounds and I am going to document them every step of the way. I think it just helps me to cope with it, by taking a picture of the trouble area and then to see it fade away and not be lifetime lasting, like RA is.

Here are some more battle wounds.

Joonie, i wasnt meaning for you not to vent about it but you said to Katie you didnt want guesses, that was the only reason for saying what I didYeah, that was my nice way of saying... "I do not want her guesses." But failed to bring that across I guess.you may have come across that way its just things aren't sinking in to me for some reason.....lack of sleep maybe?Hi Joonie

I have to have blood draws at least once a month to check my platelets. When they're low get purple black bruises that last for months. The nurses at the treatment centre where I get my treatments told me to press down very hard on the needle site for at least 5 minutes to prevent the blood from leaking and forming a bruise.
This should help with the bruising after blood draws.

Cheers
