Left arm issues | Arthritis Information

So I finally gave in and went to the GP on Weds about my arm pain. She suspected that I have tendinitis and gave me a steroid/lydocaine(sp?) shot in my shoulder. I wasn't supposed to use the arm for 2-3 days and was given a sling. My husband works though and Thursdays are his Mondays. Last night I had no choice but to pick up the baby and I think I may have jacked something up in there. I dunno. It's painful/uncomfortable even when I'm not doing anything. Maybe it's just wishful thinking that the shot would be a miracle cure on my part, but I just wanted to know what you guy's experiences with these type of shots have been. I feel I may need to call the GP back and go ahead and schedule an MRI. Blah.

Hope you're all having a superfantastic and extra-comfortable evening! *hugs*
I recently had a cortisone shot in my shoulder.  You aren't supposed to use it much for about a week so that it can be absorbed in that area.  It took actually a couple of weeks until it fully set in, and it worked really well.

You could have caused a tear or partial tear in your shoulder.  Get it checked right away.  I had to put off an MRI because of the holidays, now not only do I have 2 partial tears but I also have a frozen shoulder which is a pain in the butt!  *hugs* I agree, get back to your GP and see what he says. Hope it gets better though!!!!

And ya know, if not, I'm always open to help you with amputation. *grins*
Oh Katie if you are around when my left leg acts up we could be in trouble. Actually i have changed my mind from amputation to a hinney replacement. When my hinney joint acts up the entire leg from my hinney to my foot hurts. I just want the whole darn leg taken off when that happens. You are probably a picky doctor that does not work on hinneys. LOL I used to go to physical therapy to get ultra sound treatments on my hinney. I think it is broken. Maybe i can just buy an ultra sound machine probably a cheaper route.

The shot actually for me i get a bit of swelling from the shot it's self the first couple of days. Sometimes they help. Some times they do not seem to as much.
Thanks, guys! I was actually wondering if I didn't tear something in there - it kinda felt that way. I'm just trying not to think about it. LOL I know, I know. I'll call the doc tomorrow.

Katie, I was seriously debating whether or not I should chop my arm off at the shoulder tonight!  I'm so happy to hear I can turn to you for the how-to! no experiences, because it involved a needle and me having the opinion to say "no". LOL!

Hope everything gets better for you.

Much hugs!
HELL YEAH MEL!

I gotta rusty saw, some Vodka, and a lot of spare time.

Say when!
MrsA I say yes go for the MRI.  I had one on my shoulder.  Now I have answers other than  tendinitis here take some anti inflamitories.  It took two years of complaining though.

I do have tendinitis but it seems one tendon is very swelled and pinched.  Where (as the doc says) there isn't really a lot of help.  And it's at the point where he wouldn't be suprised it doesn't tear from the bone.  So I am trying to make sure I don't do anything such as heavy pulling or like bowling and such.  (Even though I am right handed).

He still won't promise it won't tear.  But there is something there it isn't all in my head.
I hope you get some answers and something to releave the pain.  I have been on so many anti inflamitories since I have been 17.  But I will admit as far as pain goes he finally found one that helps and it is meloxicam.  Most don't seem to help or kill my stomach so bad.

He told me to take one for three days stop a day.  And I have found help in them for the last two months.  Some days it doesn't seem to work but more often it does help.  Hope this might help in some way.
A few years ago before I found out about the autoimmune issues I have, everyone thought my arm problems were from the cervical spine problems.  The cortisone shot did nothing to help and the two series of prednisone (all they would give me) helped only until I starting tapering down.  After two months of agony I was seriously considering amputation, no kidding.  Neurotin and Bextra helped until the flare finally ended.  It turns out this arm pain was related to the autoimmune problems I have.   If your arm pain is related to your RA, maybe your meds have to be tweaked.  I truly hope you get permanent relief.  I know exactly what you're feeling and it's horrible.
