Infertility and RA treatments? | Arthritis Information

I thought I someone mentioned a while ago that there's a possibility of becoming infertile while on some RA meds. Anyone know if this is true?! I'm not even 20 and if there's even a chance I'd like to discuss with my doctor... I know it wasn't on any of the warning labels for my meds (mtx & plaq) though I may have seen it elsewhere on the net.

Anyone with info on this? There's some info about it in a thread I started called "starting methotrexate."  My doctor mentioned it to me, but it's not on the inserts.  I think it would be a pretty rare occurance, particularly in someone as young as you, but that's just based off what other people have told me...I was reading about the drugs in the context of chemo therapy and MTX was listed as having no risk of causing infertility (compared to the others).  So I think it's possible, but really rare, particularly at 20.  Thank you :)I went into menopause at 32 after being on MXT for a year. I'm now 37 and have gone through menopause. Not sure at what point it's premenopause, full blown menopause....or gone through menopause; but I haven't had a period in years.

No one ever warned me that it was even possible. Had I not had my children while I was very young I would have been so angry that it happened and no one ever warmed me.
Lovie,

Did you stop having periods from the get go?  I guess I'm willing to take the risk but would want to stop if I had any warning that was going to happen.
OOOPS  Women stuff...    bye ladies.. MTX can cause early menopause in some people and you MUST not become pregnant while taking it as it is a category X for pregnancy which means it will cause birth defects.  They sometimes actually use high doses to induce miscarriages.  Some dr's say you need to be off it for 3 months, others say 6 months before trying to get pregnant. Katie; I went through about a year of the pre-menopause stuff where my periods were really irregular. Sometimes real heavy.....sometimes real lite. I had been on the pill for about 10 years before that so we thought MAYBE that was the cause. I stopped taking the pill and we thought MAYBE it was just going to take sometime to become regular.

Turned out once they tested my hormone levels they realized that wasn't the case.
