Need some input on mamogram letter | Arthritis Information

Share

I recieved a letter from the hospital today referring back to my mamogram on 3/20/08.

It states and I quote  " ...the digital diagnostic mamogram performed on March 20, 2008, shows no signs of cancer."

In the past the letters never stated the term cancer, only that the results were negative. So does this mean that there is still a shadow and nodules in my breasts so they state the  "no cancer" part?

Any input would be helpful. I go to my PCP Friday.

I would presume that there would be mention of what is there or maybe that's something sent to just to the doctor. Even if there's nothing wrong, a lot of people get uncomfortable reading about stuff growing inside them even if it's benign. Most of the time, you're right, they just say negative. Ask your doctor what the report says specifically.
this was a diagnostic mammogram vs a screening so that may have been the differences in wording.  They already knew the lumps existed they were supposed to be analyzing them.
Good news though
Relax....it is good results. This is how my reports have stated. Guess they just want to spell it out so there is no confusion and questions. Cancer is more understandable to people than malignancy or lesion.
