hair loss - plaquenil | Arthritis Information

Well, I've been on plaquenil for a few months now, and it seems to be working great for pain/stiffness.  However, I've noticed that the hair on my arms and legs is now almost non-existent.  I've never been really shaggy, but in the wintertime I don't often shave my legs.  There is almost no hair on them, and I haven't shaved for at least a month.  My forearms have almost no hair either.  Again, they were never hairy, but it looks like I used Nair on them!  My scalp hair is perhaps a bit thinner than it was.

I'm not complaining, as much as just wondering if this happens to anyone else.  I mean honestly... a drug whose side effect is for the hair on my legs to fall out? LOL - I'm not too concerned about my head hair.  The loss is minimal, and I always have a shedding/dormant cycle in the fall and winter.  I don't even know if the scalp thinning is from the plaquenil.  It seems to be rebounding these last two weeks.

As for the vodka... that's alcohol abuse!!!!  It should be mixed with strawberries and put in your belly... not mixed with pepper and put on your hair!!!! Wooo HOO! Just be glad you do not have to hold a razor again! I hate shaving. I have not shaved my legs in 3 months? I do shave my pits though, every 2 weeks. UGH! Shaving seems to be a lot of work for me. I am glad I do not have facial hair LMAO! I would look like a sasquatch!I have a few stray face hairs.  Some in the moustache area, and a couple on my chin.  I pluck those out.  Sadly the plaquenil hasn't affected those hairs.  On a more positive note, I still have all my eyebrow and eyelash hairs. Geez, wish I had that problem. My body has so much hair and in the winter I don't shave my legs. I could probably braid them. LOL Not really, but they are long. I keep my pits shaved. I even have hair on my fingers and toes and of course my hair is dark brown/black every where. I also have a few hairs on my chin that I pluck. My mom really has bad facial hair. I hope I don't follow in her footsteps. I have hair loss from Plaquenil too. When I first started taking it I was losing lots from my head but after a couple of months it slowed down. Like yourself I have noticed less hair on my arms & legs. Never really thought it might be linked until you mentioned it.

Less to wax......ouch.........yippee!
