Enbrel and I are getting along great.  No flares and labs are perfect.  I get to try and cut back (or possibly stop) my MTX.  I am SO HAPPY!  I get to cut one pill out every two weeks.  It will be nice getting my Saturday's back.  I'm always so lazy and worthless the day after my MTX.

Way to go, KweenB!

Minocin has enabled me to cut my MTX by half so far, and it's great not having to clean a big fistful of hair out of the drain every time I shower.Congratulations!

Oh heck, after every bath or shower I have a big clump of hair to clean out. Have no idea why, maybe stress?
I am so happy for you kweenb! I hope you can cut back on the MTX and it not effect your progress you have made. Super good news. I have to go over the meds and decide what i can afford for one and Enbrel is on my list. So it is good to hear good news.Congratulations - sounds like your combination of drugs is working for you.  I'm encouraged to hear that cutting back is possible.  Hope the transition goes well and you are able to reduce or drop the mtx completely.
It does feel good once you get your meds right, congrats.  CathyYay for you!!Hey Kweenb, thanks for brightening our day, we all need that hope to hold onto.  Congrats, love Janie. Great news, Kweenb!WTG!!! Glad to hear. I too am on enbrel but don't take mtx. I am doing alot better but still get the uckies during wet weather. Does that bother you at all? Hope not.
I hope it continues. Make the most out of your good days!!
Cathy I am tickled for you, and I hope you can lower the MTX dose.  Please go slowly, so you do not mess up this nice remission!Hi Cathy, great news.  Another one to add to the growing remission list.  I've been in clinical remission with Humira for about 2 months and it's been great.  Having a PsA flare but even that's getting better.  My RD said I could start reducing MXT once I had achieved 6 months of remission and boy I can't wait.  Take care and be careful with the reduction.  Keep us posted on your progress.  Lindy[QUOTE=CinDee]WTG!!! Nope, the weather hasn't affected me at all since I started Enbrel.  The only problems I've had is when I got Bronchitis and had to stop both the MTX and Enbrel.  I had a horrible flare then.  The other time was when I spent 13 hours shopping with a friend.  I hurt the next day.  That was it.  I no longer have morning stiffness.  No constant aches in my wrists all the time.  No waking up in the middle of the night because my joints hurt.  I have more energy.  I'm out doing more with my friends instead of coming straight home from work and changing into my pajamas.  I'm enjoying it while it lasts!

I'm just a little nervous.  I had remission once before so my RD said, "Let's cut back on the Plaquenil."  That sent me in the tailspin that took about two years to get back under control.   So, I'm a little worried, but definitely enjoying "less painful days."
I am so pleased for you, its lovely to hear some good news with the meds, carry on enjoying yourself and try not to worry about what might happen. I wish you a long lasting remission.I am glad for you!

Why is that I would prefer to stay on MTX rather than take a shot of Enbrel?

The MTX really doesn't bother me- I feel a little extra tired for a couple of days
[QUOTE=wanttobeRAfree]I am glad for you!

Was that for me?  I'm confused.  I don't prefer MTX over Enbrel.  I've wanted to come off the MTX ever since I started it because I hate how it makes me feel.  I'm just worried that the reason I'm doing so well now is because of the combination of drugs that I'm on and that by dropping the MTX, it might make me start flaring again.
Kweenb, that's great news!!!   I think the fact that you're dropping only one pill every two weeks will give you time to see if there's going to be any relapse with the lower MTX dose.  If you notice any change, you can go back up a bit to stay well.  With the Plaquenil, it was a much bigger jump down, so I'll bet you won't have the same problem this time.  That's the nice thing about the MTX being in those little 2.5 mg. doses.

Keep up the good work!  We're rooting for you.

kweenbe

You answered my question- MTX made you feel like crap even tho it kept the RA at bay.

I am a needlephob and MTX doesn't really bother me so I'm hoping I can just stay on it.

This is great news, Kweenie! Way to go!
