I was thinking about it yesterday in the car, on the way to get groceries, what if they take out of thyroid. Will it cause me to get fatter or skinnier, or have no effect?

oh and I am just trying to prepare myself.
joonie2008-04-03 13:57:50do they remove thyroids?    how are you joonie?the arava was making me sick, so i had to quit it yesterday.    the weather here has been quite stormy.   i think there might be more storms tonight.   my bottom is healing up nicely ;-)   I think they do.

I am doing ok. Remicade is starting to wear off. I can tell because my back starts to hurt more even when I do rest it. And my knees and elbows are warm too.

How are you doing? I did not like Arava. It made me feel worse.
i am hurting it has been hard the last few months but i am going to get better!   i know what you mean about your back starting to hurt more when you need the remicade.  i have 2 places my lower back, down at hip level and up where my neck starts that old ladies hump always really hurt before treatment.   i love those therma care heating pads you can wear when i get like that.  i hope you have a great evening!   do you watch survivor?   yippee   i am a fan.nope do not watch survivor. Not into reality shows much. Only reality shows I watch are Gene Simmons: Family Jewels & Project Runway. Joonie, their is someone on this board who has had their thyroid removed, but I can't remember who it is.  Maybe JSNM??  I could be totally wrong about that though.  When will you find out about your thyroid?  I thought you said this week.I've never had mine removed but if it is removed you will have to take meds for the rest of your life to regulate your metabolism/hormones, because that is what the thyroid does. HTHJoonie-If they completely remove your thyroid you will start on thyroid hormone replacement.  Hopefully it won't take long to regulate and get the correct dosage.  You won't lose weight unless you are overmedicated which you do not want.  There is a slight chance in the beginning that you could gain a little, but I doubt it.  Hope this helps. Thanks for the info, TheLa!

No, I have not been to the new doctor yet. GP's office is referring me to them, and they were closed until Thursday or Friday, not sure. SO GP's receptionist, said she had not forgot about me, and she will call me with the appointment date & time either this Friday or Next Monday. I called Wednsday. I just told her my name and she knew what I was calling about.
