My New Hand, Part 2 | Arthritis Information

Share

On March 18th, I had corrective surgery on my left hand to straighten it out and make it more usable.  Some of you might recall, I had the same surgery done on my right hand last September with great success.  This hand was not quite as bad as the right hand but the thumb was in worse shape.  Now the lower joint protrudes slightly but the thumb is more workable now that it is straight.  I thought I would share some pics and let you know that everything went well.

Left hand pre-op and both hands

Left hand 2 weeks post-op

How does it feel?
After 2 weeks it's still pretty swollen and sore.  Especially in the morning. That looks so painful - you poor thing!  The difference truly is amazing, you must have a very skilled, knowledgeable surgeon.  This should dramatically increase the quality of your life, and your ability to use your hands.  I am so glad you had this done and that everything went well.

I hope your recovery is quick and complete!  Thank you for sharing your photos, it does show the amazing treatments and options that are available now.
