Dizzy spells!!!!! | Arthritis Information

HI guys, just a question for you, do any of you suffer from blood pressure probs?  I was having continuous high blood pressure despite medication, now it is 98/80 which my GP said is strange, I have had high ALT (liver) results and I am possibly anaemic again, it is not chronic illness anaemia, it is from not having the ability anymore to absorb iron through food due to stomach and oesophageal damage from antiinflammatories, so I have it infused.  I have been suffering lightheadedness and dizzy spells, heaps today and mildly before today.  Seems to me its always something, my joints were all sore today, more than previously this week, I am fed up of trying to work out any pattern at all.  I have been extra irritable and tired, I get fed up of always saying what is hurting today to hubby and kids, as it is so obvious I am unwell.  AnywaY I guess this has turned into a vent, thanks for listening guys.  Hugs Janie. hi janie i have high bp for 4mths no meds yet .. but no dizzy spells.. or  liver probs
and no anemia.. hope your feeling better soon..  Boney
I've had a lot of dizzy spells lately and I'm not sure why. I've been trying for months to increase my lyrica but it makes my mornings swimmy. I'm sure that's all it is. Last Saturday I left early in the morning to drop my daughter off at softball practice and I was fine. Then on the way home I felt almost drunk. It was the strangest thing. Scary really.

I know what you mean Janie about there always being something wrong....or something hurting. I get so tried of having to explain what's hurting. My husband is great to be so concerned....but I always feel so stupid. It does get old. I can imagine how it feels to be on the other side of this thing.
I'm sorry Janie *soft hugs*_popupControl(); It seems a few of us are getting the dizzy spells. I was told by my doc last week he is 99% sure I have menieres, but has booked a cat scan just to check as I also hit my head a few weeks ago. The cat scan was booked for Tues the 1st but my grandaughter stopped that happening so they have re booked for the 11th. I know how you feel Janie its like one thing after another.I have no experience with BP problems, just wanted to say I hope the dizzy spells end soon for you.I am sorry you are unwell. Stay after the docs. If this bloodpressure willl not control go to the hospital. And vent as much as makes you feel better. Maybe some good vents will bring the bloodpressure down. We can take it if it helps. I am praying for you.Jane,

I'm so sorry to hear about your problems.  I've had HBP for about 20 years - long before I had RA.  I know it can do weird things.  My symptoms were a sore neck and blurry vision.  The first thing my GP did was look in my eyes and told me I had HBP before even checking my BP.  Weird.

My mom had HBP problems that they couldn't control.  The last drug they gave her made hers drop like yours too.  The systolic and diastolic were almost the same.  She said it made her feel terrible so she stopped taking it.  Now, it's back to hovering slightly above normal, but she feels better.

That's also horrible about your stomach and esophagus.  Can I ask how long you took anti-inflammatories before you had damage?

BTW - rant all you want, hon.  We understand.

Gentle hugs back at ya!
Hi Kween B, thanks for your encouragement and support, it is much appreciated.  I have been on the HBP meds for about 4 years and just lately BP has been erratic.  The anti-inflammatories I have been taking regularly for 6 years, and prior to RA, I used them whenever my back osteoarthritis played up, on and off for 14 years with no apparent probs, now if I have them, I have to stay near a toilet, sickness and diarrheoa, terrible abdominal pain and gastro-oesphageal reflux.  Hope this is useful.  Hugs Janie. Jane,

I just now noticed your signature line.  Are you still on Gabapentin?
Kweenb may be on to something. Gabapentin can cause dizzy spells, but my RD once your body gets used to it, that will subside. But, I've been taking it for a few weeks and I still have an occasional dizzy spell. I do not have hbp at all. So, the Gabapentin could be the cause. And don't forget that growing crystals in your ears causes dizzy spells LOL.

That's what my doctor diagnosed me as having on & off. They don't know what causes them to grow and what causes them to break up and go away but I have had dizzy spells on & off for ears because of them. They grow on that little bone in your middle ear that affects your balance.
HI guys, I stopped Gabapentin about 5 months ago as I felt it wasn't useful for my fibromyalgia, I find Endep better.  I have been having unusual ear feelings lately, almost like when you have been swimming and your ears feel waterlogged, my GP checked them and said she couldn't see a reason for it though.  Thanks again, hugs Janie.  The full ear feeling is what I get just before a dizzy spell. The doc said it is a symptom of menieres. Plus I get a sound in my ears like a waterfall.I dont' know if this is what you're experiencing..

I don't think I am dizzy.. but I get a "swimming" feeling for very brief periods.  Like my head floats off for a second or two and then comes back?

sounds weird, I know... wasn't sure if it was medication induced or what.

babs10,

Have you had that for long?  I used to feel like gravity reversed and I was going to fall "up".  It was weird too.  I also had an extreme sense of fear with it.  My neurologist said it was seizure activity.  It completely stopped for the two years I took Tegretol.  Now it only happens if I take a medication that's supposed to lower seizure threshold.  Except for Claritin.  I don't know why, but my brain hates Claritin.
