Minocin | Arthritis Information

I am new here.  I have been dealing with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis for 20 years, I am 65, and have recently been diagnosed with RA.   I  have read some of the posts and saw that justsayinoemore takes minocin, 100 mg., MWF.  I am wondering how she decided on it and on the dosage level.  I am very wary of side effects and see that minocin has few.  I have also taken tetracycline before with no problem.  My rheumatologist suggested MTX but I am weary of it.  I have also  been in A.A. for 20 years.

Any response would be appreciated.   I am at the library.  Will be here 2 hours and then will return tomorrow.
www.roadback.org has a lot of info about it.    Take care.Thanks.Hi Jan -

Like Suzanne said - some of us treat our RA with Minocin.  I do the pulsing dose of 200 mgs MWF and I think JSNM is moving up to that dose soon - or just did.  That's what Dr. Brown thought was the best dosage.  Some of the Harvard studies were at 200 mgs a day.  Others here are weaning the other meds more slowly.  If you react strongly we just drop the dose and work up slowly.

My mom just started AP for OA and didn't react like some RA people (strongly).

P.S.  Here's a study on mino and OA.  You might run a Google search on Fibro and minocycline or minocin and see what pops up.

Anyway - if you have more questions, please ask.

Hugs,

P.S.  You have to take probiotics with antibiotics to ensure that AP keeps working.
