A friend of mine has RA and her insurance sucks.  She found a web site that sell medication from the UK and they don't require a prescription.  She got 2 bottles of 5mg prednisone.  Each bottle has 500 pills and her total cost was .  This is less than I pay with insurance.  She takes what the rd prescribes but just buys the drugs elsewhere.  She has been doing this for a year and just told me.  Do you all think this is ok?  They also sell celebrex and other RA drugs. Opinions please!

legally, there may be a problem with it...but on the moral issue...yeah it's fine if one is ordering what a doc prescribes but doing it this way due to crap ins.  but there is the question of if the drugs aren't counterfit.  some companies do that...so safety is always an issue.   the us gov't doesn't like people ordering out of the states for fear of things like that.

She has been taking the prednisone for well over a year and just started with the tramadol and she has never had a problem.

I never thought about buying medications that way.  I would be worried if it was safe and was I getting the medication that I ordered and not something that looked like it.

you said she has been doing this for a year and nothing has happend yet.  She either has sone VERY GOOD LUCK or they are sending her the right meds.  Saving money is always the first thing I think of but I am not sure that is the way to do it...Are you thinking about doing the same thing?   Think Hard my friend before you send out your first order...

At first I thought: "No; I wouldn't advise it" but then I thought....I take over 00 worth of medication a month; If I had to pay that out of pocket....I might be asking for that number!!

I have come to  realize, I would do whatever it took to get my meds.  My meds including the Enbrel are way more than anything I can afford.  If I did not have insurance, I would look for alternative ways to get medication.  RA has not allowed me much time to "put things on hold and make thoughtful decisions".  It has kept me in a constant race to find treatment.  I hope when I look back on the decisions I have made, I will not have regrets.  Right now I am just trying to be as proactive as I can be with this disease.

I don't think buying drugs from the UK is legal (or Canada or Mexico) but it is often much cheaper.

Change is needed!

if any of you have a costco by you their meds are alot cheaper then walgreens.  and you dont have to have a membership to use their pharmacy.  i used to buy mtx from walgreens and it was almost since i dont have ins i went to costco and mtx there is about -.  its such a huge difference.  i dont know if they have it in the UK but check online you might be able to have it delivered to you if there isnt one close by.
