I took the pred a couple of weeks ago.  It certainly helped because after about 24-36 hours I felt much better although still hurt.  Mine was a two week pack and after I finished for the last two weeks I have felt so much better.  I still wake up stiff and it takes me awhile to get going but I am not toast by 4.  Now I am not doing my normal routine by any measure.  I am still babying myself.  By bedtime 9:00, I usually need some meds to help me be more comfortable. Like my hips and shoulders will be hurting really bad, the other night my lower back was killing me, if I turned it felt like something was grinding but I don't know what.  If I do the stairs too many times or go shopping I still hurt.  And the fatigue is still killing me.  I took my 4 year old to a doctor's appointment about 45 minutes from my house at 11:00 appointment time.  Driving home after some lunch about 1:30 I was so tired I was fighting to stay awake.  Came home and took a couple hour nap.  Then Friday my son was having his 16th birthday party so I made cupcakes and then took a nap then made cheesecake and took a nap, my fingers were hurting pretty good after all that.  The day before I had a couple of stores I needed to get to and after doing my shopping at one (1 hour worth) my knees were hurting so much I decided I would save the other store for another day.  Today I cleaned the kitchen and did a couple of loads of laundry and I can really feel my elbows hurting.  Are these normal types of things?  Will it always be like this, or can I hope I will actually feel more normal?

Thanks for your help, you guys are great!
I dont take pred so im not sure on that subject but just wanted to add that I'm glad you feel better. You are doing the right thing by still resting up though. I think we all need that despite our meds.

Take care
Lisa
I can't stay like this thought.  I need to be able to function, right now I don't feel like I am functioning.  I am resting and taking it easy, I need to be able to get back to normal.  Or at least some degree of normal.

It sounds like you are a very busy woman.

Maybe after your appointment with the RD you'll get some other meds for the RA, other than pred, to help you out. Once those kick in, hopefully you'll have some more relief.
I go to the RD in a couple of hours.  I just hope I don't get the run around!  I am excited and nervous about this appointment. Good Luck at your appointment! Let us know how it goes!

Oh and you actually sound like me when I was took off Humira and for infections then stayed off so I could start Remicade. Except I had 10mgs of pred in me and I still had a hard time functioning and doing things I needed to do.

I am so glad I am doing better now. I hope you get some answers at your appt!
joonie2008-04-07 11:54:35Well back from the RD and he is running bunch more blood work and said he would call me and in the meantime put me on Celebrex again but this time 200mg twice a day instead of just once. hi lotokids ..it appears not the appt you hoped for.. i hope the celebrex helps
and your doc calls whith  answer soon..

wishing you well..   Boney
Not surprising however since I have been feeling pretty good and my joints only hurt if someone touches them when I am really bad flaring otherwise I can handle the discomfort.

sounds like a normal appt. You are doing a good job of pacing yourself, that still is hard for me. My dr said turn on the tv and every commercial get up do something and then rest til the next one. I hate watching tv, so I keep it off during the day when it is just me here. I also do not sit down during the day as there is always so much that needs doing. I am a major clean freak and can't seem to let things go... I hope you get answers soon!

Hugs!
Deb
Lotokids,
Yes, it was a "normal" first time appt.  and I hope that the blood work shows some info that you need.  Take it easy and work on some stretching when you can.  I got a rubber band to help with the muscle stuff...so I do not lose my muscle structure.  Just keep in mind that you are not supposed to exercise formally until the flare has subsided.  I am glad you have the celebrex that should help with some of the pain.

If it gets too bad...don't hesitate to go back on the prednisone.  I know it is a pain and the side effects stink, but it does allow you to be up and about.
