I was ill this past December w/ a vomit/diarrhea bug that was going around.  The day after staying up all night throwing up I got out of bed and said to my husband-Oh my God I can hardly walk!  From then to now I've had increasing pain.  I feel it's joint pain but I have no swelling and RA bloodwork and SED rates were within normal limits.  So the Rheumy I saw said "I think it's Fibromyalgia"  Well I thought that was more muscular?  I talked to my internist and she did the trigger point exam or whatever it's called and yeah the places hurt but I wasn't about to jump off the table or anything.  She said since I wasn't crying out about the pain then how could it be Fibromyalgia?  So more blood tests are in the lab for Parvo, another SED rate a C-reactive protein test or something?  I may not have that right.  My questions are-do those w/ Fibromyalgia have stiffness in their joints in the morning?  Do you have joint pain also?  I can tell you when a cold front is coming through before it comes-can you?  I'm trying to figure out what's going on w/ me.  I'm on Prednisone-this is my second day and it's helping a lot.  I just wonder what the doctor will say when I tell her that.  Is that indicative of some form of arthritis, Fibromyalgia or what?  :(  Predisone is not used to treat fibro it doesn't help it. So if your getting relief from it them its probably not fibro. I have both fibro and JRA, complicates a lot of things. Also the trigger points are horrible a light touch could make you wanna scream! I have stiffness and pain but I attune that to the JRA. You can also have arthritis pain without swelling, same with stiffness. Fibro does lead to some stiffness though. but weather has never been an issue for that, just for the JRA.^ If the pred is working, then you don't have fibro, you have an inflammatory arthritis. Pred doesn't work for fibro. I remember when I had "just" fibro and my dr gave me pred and I just felt worse. Fibro, I am afraid, is a bit a wastebasket diagnosis because it is a diagnosis of exclusion, so if you complain of fatigue, pain and stiffness and have tender points, and no positive labs, that's what they 'bin' you as. I wish they could understand so that we could understand it. I had stiffness with fibro, like sleep inertia when I woke up, I never had joint pain though, just a feeling like a flu in all my muscles. You can have RA with no or normal RF, CRP or ESR, it is just termed "mild." Which joints specifically are hurting you?
