Kidney Problems? | Arthritis Information

Does anyone here have any sort of kidney problem as a result of RA or the medications you have taken for it?

I've been doing a little research this afternoon on back pain and kidney infections and I'm curious how frequent this is. I've had a lot of back pain the last few days that I (sort of) worry could be kidney related....but I don't know. It's so difficult to know what pain is what. I don't have any fever or any other symptoms so I'm sure it's nothing...or at least not kidney related.

Just wondered who has experience with this. I've had numerous Bladder infections over the past 5 years but never a kidney infection.
I've been having kidney/back pain issues off and on now for quite a while. It seems like it happens every other month or so. I started drinking a lot of cranberry juice and more water. I guess it helps, but it might all be in my head. I've often wondered if the pains were related to the RA drugs or the RA itself.  Great question!!Hi Lovie, kidney stones can be mild to severe pain and no temp. and blood in urine.  They're sneaky little devils.  You should probably be checked out to rule out an infection or stones.  LindyHey Lovie.....
I had a pretty bad kidney infection as a kid, with a very high fever, so definately not going to say RA related.

Had another one few years back, and it was an unpleasant experience..I had no idea what it was, thought it was a bad flu..My symptoms were terrible chills, and vomiting, don't remember if i had a fever of this one, but they give you really strong antiobiotics..

Yes, by all means go to your primary doctor, or urologist, if you have a history of bladder infections. They can do a quick "dip stick" test in the exam room, to see if there is blood in the urine.

With my history of kidney stones, and the kidney infections, its always necessary to give a sample, before antiobiotics, like Cipro are added.

Good Luck! hi loviei have had tightness.. not pain under my right ribs for 1 yr now..
spleen ok all tests for liver and kidneys ok....  docs think it may be gallstones
awaiting scan... maybe allso muscle prob due to ra...

errrr what was the question... having a strange day ...lol
Where exactly is the pain if it's kidney related? I keep reading low back over your hip....but any diagram I see of the kidneys show them much higher than this.Hi lovie i have had a kidney infection a couple of times in the last 3 years and i get a few urine infections as well ,when its a kidney infection you get a lot of pain in your lower back both sides and it makes you feel pretty rough love dianaIt's always been lower back pain too when I've had bladder infections; but this seems to be higher. The more I read the less I think it has anything to do with my kidneys. I have multiple back problems and don't doubt more as time goes on. I'm sure it's just back problems....but I'll stay alert to the warning signs. Thanks guys.
