Does anyone find they can't think as clearly or their memory it shot from prednisone?

I'm usually articulate and find I'm having problems talking at times.  Words I mean to say come out different and I forget things.

I was given a cortisone shot in the wrist, prednisone prescription(10mg a day)and mtx(15mg weekly).

After 1 month I called the Rhuemy and asked to lower dosage of prednisone since I was feeling great.  So, went down to 7.5 mg of pred. for a week then down to 5mg a day now until I see Rheumy after the 2 months of being on all of this is up.

Question is, why do I feel so great in the morning before I take the prednisone and feel like poop after?

Also, I'm splitting the 5mg in half so that I take it in morning and at dinner(thinking it will be easier to just taper to 2.5mg once a day when I have to come off it for good).

Another thing is I have Brain Age on Ds(hopefully you know what I'm talking about)and on virus buster I used to get to 12th place on Hard.  Now I can only get to 6-7.  I know this prednisone or mtx is affecting my concentration because this is consistent not radom.

What is your opinion and experience?
TIA
Well I certainly have noticed I don't feel like concentrating, have trouble concentrating and have poor short term memory. I didn't know what to blame it on but it's been since my RA DX in Nov 07 and I am on both MTX (15 mg)  and prednisone for it.

I'm down to 10 mgs of prednisone from 40 mgs and it doesn't seem to be improving.

Saturday I backed into my husband's friend's truck because although I knew it was there- usually no one is behind me and I forgot.

I have a terrible time remembering things at work- I go get information for a client and before I can get back to my office I already forgot what it was- this is not like me. I too have trouble articulating which was never a problem before. It is very frustrating.

I take all my pred in the AM- I'm being tapered too. I can't wait to get off but it looks like it will be a slow process from here on. Doctor has me going down every other week and next time only by 1 mg.

Your working...that must be hard.  I can't imagine how students cope!

My 10yr.old twins had a playday on Sat. and I was taking their friends home.  I thought everyone was in the car and ready as I was pulling away...."NOT READY!" I hear coming from the back as my son's friend is holding onto his skateboard sitting down and closing the door at the same time.  He was in the car thank goodness but what if he hadn't been.  I didn't even ask everyone if they were ready...ya know all seatbelts on etc. etc.

I mean everyone was safe and we all laughed our heads off but I'm thinking afterwards what the heck was I thinking!!!!

I know exactly what you are talking about-  was your mind on other things already? I think that's what happens to me.hi forest. i do not have memmory probs from pred. but i did while on mtx.
i have read a lot on other forums and it was given the term.. brain fog

I am so relieved to read all of your posts.  I have been so forgetful lately that my daughter told me to tie a string to my finger when I go to the doc to ask her about my memory.  Then, I forgot! I am on medrol, MTX and humira and it seems that the memory gets worse with each new med.  And, I teach school which is awful. It does make me feel better to know that it's not just me. janewall,
I feel the same as you do, it gets worse with every med.  My boss asked me something one day and I just gave her a very blank look....I had no clue what to say.  I should have rattled the answer right off.  Very scarey!!  I think she has lost all faith in me now.  My short term memory is gone too, I will stop in the middle of a sentence and have to ask the person I was talking to what I was talking about.  My husband gets frustrated at me, but I tell him I cant help it.  Wonder if there is any meds/vitamins that will help
