front of ankle/leg? | Arthritis Information

HI guys, I have a couple of injuries that I would like to ask you about, if anyone else has had them, or gets this pain.

The front of my ankle feels like something needs to click and it happens as you step forward and the weight shifts to the front of the foot, and up the leg to about mid way up the leg between the shin and the achilles tendon, it clicks and it is so painful, it comes and goes, it is definitely getting worse with my walking, my GP is very concerned about my feet as I am getting a lot of pain and discomfort from them.  The queried fracture from the other week still hurts although not as bad as it was, but it is keeping me from putting the weight on the outside of the foot.  Also when I put my right foot forward it feels like my arch is touching the ground, my whole foot rolls inwards and it gets very uncomfortable across the arch, cramps etc.  I do have a right foot bone spur on my heel and plantar facsitis on the same foot, so I am sure that doesn't help.  The only way I can lose weight is to keep active but I must admit the longer I am doing it the more problems I am encountering.  I am going to hire an exercise bike but I have osteoarthritis of my spine, lumbar, thoracic and cervical, degenerative disc disease, protrusions and osteophytes trapping nerves so I don't think for one minute I will be able to keep that GP says I have to try.   Oh and I mustn't forget the knees, it goes on and on and on and on........... Thank God I am writing this to you all as if I wrote to anyone else they would think its time to be put out of my misery, thats if they believed me in the first place.  ha ha  Any suggestions are welcome and I have to keep moving due to being obese and pre diabetic from pred.  Thanks again my friends, I don't know what I would do without you.  Isn't it funny how you can be going along thinking Hey I am not so bad at the moment, then BANG, it all comes back to haunt you!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Hugs Janie.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX  Janie I am so sorry this is happening to you. You were going so well. See it just as another hurdle to get over and when your feet are better you can walk again. All the walking you have been doing has been a bonus already. Maybe you can do some upper body excercises while your feet get a rest. lifting light weight or a stretchy band, stress ball for hands etc.lung and chest excercises are good for getting more oxygen in the blood. I used to get depressed when I was going good then hit a bump but now I realise there has to be a down to have an up. Hang in there, Hugs Ally My ankle braces are just the soft wetsuit type material ones you get from the chemist. They give support without being too constricting. My hubby just  knows when my braces go on it means I am in pain so he just rolls over and goes to sleep. Thats if he can with my snoring LOL . I dont have the mask but I still sound like darth vader. Usually if my wrists are bad my ankles are ok and vice versa. So its either wrist splints or ankle braces, very rarely both.Hi again Ally, I have probably asked you before but with the "brain fog" and all, you know how it is, where in Aussie are you?  I am in beautiful Hervey Bay.  Janie.I am in Mannum SA on the river MurrayI'm not up on the ankle anatomy, but this sounds like a cartilage noise. The noise itself means nothing save for something rubbing, but the pain does as does the progression. Go to an ortho guy and he'll probably do an MRI to look for problems. Maybe some arthroscopy needed. Will pray for you. I don't have that ankle pain you refer to, but I wanted to congratulate you on pushing ahead with your routine and trying the exercise bike.  If you can, try to get the one where you're sort of reclining rather than sitting straight up.  It will be much easier on your spine.  Then, just do a couple of minutes the first day.  If that goes well, add just a minute or two.  If there's any problem, give it a rest and try again, but every other day, until you build up a tolerance.  Hang in there, you're doing a great thing for yourself.  Any, BTW, you're right, we totally "get" you.  And if anyone wants to shoot you, they have to shoot the rest of us too!
