Yesterday am my shoulder got that tiwinge that means a flare is coming on. It di and by last night it was swollen and painful.  This morning not only my shoulder but down the same side along my rib cage.  I can't tell exactly where that pain is coming from because the wholeare is so sore.  Anyone else ever have this? It's a new one for me.

Oh, maybe I should add that a shoulder flare is not new, just the rest rest of it is.
Linncn2008-04-10 08:12:24I get swelling of the cartiledge (sp?) in my rib cage. Very painful! Anyway they say it is from the jRA. Hi Linncn, I get the shoulder twinges and it spreads down my arm and also my ribcage, especially when i breathe. I get it on both sides from time to time. Sorry you are hurting, I hope it passes.

Thanks all.  I am just glad to find out it happens to others too.  Well, not that it makes me glad that any of you have flet this, but you know what I mean.

I took a long hot epsom salts bath.  Feels somewhat better, but far from normal.  We have my daughter's cheer banquet tonight. I need to be able to lift my arm up over my head so I can dry my hair later. So far no can do.  Who knows though, a couple hours can make a big difference sometimes. Thanks for al the replies, I appreciate it. Ouch, ouch, ouch!  I feel you pain, no kidding. I've had that too, except for the rib cage.  It moves down the arm, throughout the shoulder and the whole "wing" of the back.  I hope it's not a flare and that it doesn't last too long.  Do you have a prescription pain med you can take?  You probably already know this, but Aleve is the same as naproxen, but a milder version.  Maybe your pharmacist can advise you on how much to take to equal the prescription dosage.  I'm sorry you are not feeling well.......shoulder pain that prevents hair drying is the worst!  I am dead in the water when I can't fix my hair.

But you are correct -- a few hours can make a world of difference.  I hope you'll feel better fast!
Ya know, I'm all out of prescription pain meds and I don't want to ask for more. Always feel like a drug fiend, ya know?  So I've just been loading up on ibuprophen and that takes the edge off.  Has it gotten any better or is it still the same?
Sometimes I think a lot of the pain we have is that "referred pain" stuff.
