Prednisone and menstrual cycles/BCP | Arthritis Information

 

I ran across a statement somewhere that prednisone can interfere with birth control pills and that it can cause irregular cycles.  I haven't been able to find it since or find anything definitive on the subject.  Does anyone know how prednisone affects BCP and/or menstruation?

I would have a heavier menstruation when I was on it. But I have irregular cycles because of other problems. I also don't take oral birth control, I have the nuva ring. My doc suggested it because I don't have to take a pill everyday and the hormones are a little different. I like it! A little expensive because my insurance doesn't cover it, so its a month, but I think its worth it!It hasn't affected my cycle but then nothing does- my body on the birth control pills has always worked just like clock work.
