update to scary symptoms - Im in the hospital | Arthritis Information

As some of you may remember, for a few weeks, every time I stood up I would start to (sort of) black out. My eyesight would go black, I would get a slight headache and my hearing would go away. My primary gave me meds for vertigo even though I knew that wasn't my problem. Anyway, last fri morning I was talking to my mom and apparently I was slurring my words and not making any sense. I was telling her about my cat's antics, but using the name of a cat I had years and years ago. She told my dad to get on the phone and he noticed the same things so they said they needed to get off the phone for some silly reason. They live in another state and tried to track down my hubby at his work. They couldn't get a hold of him, but reached my 18 yr old son at work and told him he needed to get me to a hospital. He called hubby and they both raced home, got me to the hospital where my bp was something really really low, like 48/ . The ER could not believe I was awake. My pulse which used to run in the high 90's was 40. I got fast-tracked to be admitted and here I still am. My pulse is all over the place, my low bp jumped to high bp w/o bp meds, but if you take it again 2 min later its completely different. My bloodwork was all wacky low rbc, low white. They did an echiocardiogram, no results yet, a catscan, no results yet, and some other tests, thyroids were normal... so here it is april 14 It's my BIRTHDAY TODAY  and no closer to any answers except maybe one of my drugs which I have been taking forever!

sadly,
Deb
Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday Deb, I am so sorry to hear you are in hospital though, never mind, I am praying for you and will light a candle for you tomorrow.  God Bless and I hope they sort you out quickly and that is is only a small small problem, I hope!  Then when you get home, I am sure you will be spoiled, imaginne that yummy cake, mmm  I can taste it now.  Have you got a laptop, or is there access at the hospital?  Get yourself a nice book, and hopefully you are well enough to read.  Love going out to you Janie.XXXX Happy Birthday Deb!!   Let's just be thankful you're around to celebrate it.

Deb - at least your family came through for you, they love you very much.  Happy Birthday.  I hope you get some answers.  It's amazing how far down we have to go before we get help.  Take care ~~ Cathy

That's so scary Deb! Thank goodness you were talking to your Mother and she realized something was wrong. I'll be praying for you Sweetie.

Happy Birthday. I'm sorry you have to spend today in the hospital....but I'm real glad you got there in time to get help.
Oh Deb, Happy Birthday!  So sorry you are in the hospital, but let's hope that a diagnosis is made quickly and they begin treating your problem today.  Now THAT would be a very good birthday present!Wow Deb that is scary to say the least.  Thank goodness you were talking to your Mom as she probably saved your life.
A big Happy Birthday to you Deb. Just think, no cooking, no cleanup and no dishes.  That in itself is a Birthday gift.
Take care......
First, Happy Birthday, Deb! I'm sorry you are celebrating it   the hospital, but you are where you need to be right now.

You have a wonderful, loving family! I'm, sure you know that.  I  bet your son was scared to death. But he came through and reached Dad, Bless his heart.

Please let us know as soon as you know anything. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care Sweetie. You know how many people care about you.

Gentle hugs and much love, Nini
happy birthday deb!!!   let them spoil you!!!   tell everyone it is your birthday!     thank goodness for your family.   what is the drug they took you off of?   was it plaquenil?Hi Deb, I'm so thankful that you were talking to someone on the phone.  From your last post I was afraid that this might happen.  That's why I warned you about all those symptoms.  When they happen we don't recognize that somethings wrong but others do. Don't fight staying in the hospital, just stay and get stabilized.  I know how hard it is to just lay there.  Take care and keep us posted on how you're doing.  In fact I thought about you this weekend and were wondering if the symptoms had gone away.  Guess not.  Lindy Whoops, I forgot.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY, you can celebrate when they spring you.  LHappy Birthday, Deb!
I'm glad you're getting the care you need...hope you're back home soon and feeling better!

Deb, I'm so sorry to hear this is happening and I know just how frustrating and frightening it must be.

In circumstances like this, I always try to remind myself that there are two ways to look at every situation.  My take on this is that you have been given a glorious birthday present - very possibly orchestrated from above.  For some time you have been struggling and fighting and pushing forward, even though you knew something just isn't right.  Think about the love that has been wrapped around you like a big fuzzy blanket, you're family is there for you 110%, and you are now in a safe place and people are taking your problems seriously,  working hard at solving them for you.  Sounds like a pretty damn good birthday to me!

So sit back, allow others to take care of you for awhile and trust that everything is going to work out alright.  You're no longer fighting this stuggle alone!

I hope they get this figured out quickly and have you feeling better very soon, and then you can have one heck of a party!!!

Karen
In my opinion birthday's suck bad enough on their own- so sorry you are spending yours in the hospital.

Prayers going up that they find out what's causing your problems and that they get it fixed fast!

Feel better!!!
Hope they let you out soon--hospital food is awful  Happy Birthday, Deb!

Isn't it just weird how you did not notice something was wrong with you, because your thoughts were still so clear in your head? That is how I was after I got to the ER... slurring, not making much sense to the ones around me, but to me... I was "fine". Some scary stuff!

Hope they find out what is causing problems with your BP.

Much Hugs!
I hope everything gets fixed and you get home soon.

Happy belated birthday! Were you tested for TIA (transient ischemic attack)? They are like mini strokes. That was my first thought. ((((((((((((((((((((deb))))))))))))))))))))))
