New here - RA for 24 years | Arthritis Information

Hi - I have been reading the posts for a while now & feel that I need to contribute too!  I am 48 years old & have had RA since my third child was 9 months old.  I had a flu like virus a couple of weeks before my symptons started (like so many others here).  It started in my shoulder & spread like wildfire all over.  I was fortunate enough to get in with a good rheumatologist within 3 months of my symptons & he helped me alot.  Of course that was back before all of the newer drugs were out.  I hope to be able to offer some help to others here.

Hi Cindy, welcome to the board, Im sure your input will be of great help to all on here. I am 43 and have had RA for 11 years or so. I am about to have my first Rutixin infusion in two weeks in hope that it will help ease the symptoms. Theres a lot of good people on here who will give good advice too.

Take care

Hi Cindy, welcome!Hey Cindy and welcome!

Hi Cindy, and welcome!  It's good of you to contribute your experiences and advice.  We all benefit when others share their RA stories.  6 posts in 3 years, you have one of the earliest sign up dates I've seen. Are all your kids grown and out of the nest? Our youngest will leave for college this fall. Kind of looking forward to this new phase. I'll look forward to hearing more.

Welcome Cindy - it will be great to have someone on the board with a long history of RA to give their input on experiences.   I'm just starting year 2 of RA, so lots to learn.

Hi Cindy, nice to meet you. welcome........Welcome Cindylou! Glad you're here. No doubt you'll have much to contribute to our little group here. Hi and welcome! I echo the sentiments about looking forward to gaining knowledge from someone who has been experiencing this for so long!Hi Cindy, Welcome!
I'm very new to RA, and I just finally got a DX last month, and I learn so much from everyone here. Your contributions are very welcome here.

ok first ?, lol, is do you feel Any better then 24 yrs ago??

I'm basically an optomistic person, but not w/ this stuff..
I did sign up years ago but life was really busy I guess.  I have 3 children, twin girls that are 28 & married, & our youngest daughter is 24, married with a 7 month old baby boy.  He is our first grandchild & one of the twins is expecting & her due date is on the first grandbaby's birthday!  I don't work any longer & keep Tucker(baby's name).  He is absolutley the light of my life!! My husband & I have been married for 31 years.  I have been so blessed to have my RA under control.  Actually, after the first horrible flare & getting to my rheumy so quickly, no one that really didn't know me that well could never tell that I had RA.  I feel so fortunate that all through my children growng up I was reasonably normal.  Just in the last 5 years or so has it really kicked up alot.  Rituxin has really turned it around.  My main problem now is fatigue.  If I don't overdo several days in a row I am good, but I have to get my rest and take care of myself.  Sorry for the long post!

That's not even close to a long post. Your DD is fortunate that you live near enough to take care of Tucker (what a great name). I was always kind of jealous of the families in our small town, where they could drop their kids off with a loving grandmother, sometimes both grandmas. I put my girls on a 180 mile bus trip or 3 hour plane ride to spend a couple weeks with their grandparents every summer. Your RA sounds like mine, I knew it was there, but hardly anyone else did.
