Oh my goodness, just had a surprise ROOT CANAL!!!!!  Can you believe that?  I never miss a dentist appt. - regular checkups, cleanings, xrays, everything.

For years, YEARS, I have been telling them the same tooth bothers me.  And they tell me it is fine.  Try Sensodyne.  Maybe it is sinus.

Last time, they said I had a small cavity and I was like, FINALLY.   But I didn't realize it was on a nearby tooth, not the one that has bothered me for YEARS.

Since they filled that, the tooth has bothered me more, and I couldn't floss right, which I thought was because the new filling was in the way.   The floss would snap in two every time!

Then, Sunday night the floss didn't break, but my tooth did.  Yuck.  But it felt better!

Good luck had it that I already an appt. for a cleaning today.   I called and they added an appt. and everybody thought it would be for a crown.  Then he got in there, and was like, "Hasn't this been hurting you?"  Yes, for YEARS, remember?  But he was like, no, really hurting.  "Most people would be swollen way out like this" and held his hand away from his jaw.

Then he said he was going to do a root canal, and I almost passed out.  I mean, I grabbed his arm....I just wasn't prepared for that.  But that didn't matter because he jumped right in and it was over way faster than I imagined.  He said he couldn't believe it wasn't infected.

Now, it h-u-r-t-s.  But I really think I am going to be feeling much much better overall once this is done - better than I have in YEARS, right????

Sigh.  I will have to add a chapter on dentists to my "What Is Your Damn Problem" book.
I had 2 root canals about 5yrs ago, the funny part was that they rotted from the inside, there was no cavity etc. on the outside where food touches, it came from up inside the gums.

He didn't know how it happened but it did.  He was so slow and took so many vacations it was 6 months per tooth to finish.
[QUOTE=bubbagump]And how is the book coming!  I'm waiting on tenderhooks!  It's a best seller, I can feel it!

I had a root canal about 20 years ago and I've been having problems with it.  I apparently have a cyst at the root that isn't healing properly.  My dentist wanted to send me to have endodontic surgery.  I just gave him a "you've got to be kidding" glance.  I think I'm going to wait a while.  After the tissue graft, bone graft, braces, and dental implant, I've had enough for a few months.OH I have such dental phobia. My parents took us to some nut when we were kids and he really traumatized all of us. As a result, I almost pass out when I have to just CALL to make the appt. for a cleaning. Lately I've had a couple teeth that are sensitive and I'm dreading a root canal. Funny thing is, a really good friend of ours is a dentist and I won't even go to him cause I don't want him to see my cry! I really am not kidding. I have MASSIVE DENTAL PHOBIA. I did finally make an appt. though. I'm going June 3rd (I think) with a friend of mine who also shakes and cries at the mere thought of going to the dentist. We'[re gonna hold each other's hands through this. I would rather give birth again and again than go to the dentist. This is bad!Lately my whole mouth is sensitive to cold and sometimes all my teeth throb for no reason. I don't even want to know why.
