Feet - on strike! | Arthritis Information

Hi guys, well here I am again, everytime I get things moving something comes along and shuts it right down - do you ever get that feeling?

I have been told no walking until I get to see a podiatrist for some shoe alterations, my arches have fallen and still possibly have a fracture, rheumy thinks the old fracture which only recently healed may have refractured.   My feet are literally turning inwards onto the arch which is now flattened.  Has anyone seena podiatrist for this problem and had it fixed or will I neer be able to walk which I really enjoy.  This damn disease has taken away so much from me, I used to be an athlete, running swimming, biking, golf, tennis, badminton, etc etc, and I used to console myself with, oh well at least I can walk!!!!

My RD told me to hire a recumbent unicycle, apparently they take the pressure of of your spine and hips, which will be a blessing as I tried the normal exercise bike and found it too painful.  Thanks for any advice  from Janie.
Sorry,

Nothing from here. I feel so good and I'm still losing weight. Life is good.

RA seems to take whatever someone loved best- I just don't get it.

Hope the podiatrist can help you get your feet better so you can do the things you used to do.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

I wish you would refrain from joining in on this board, you aren't the type of person who should be included as being nasty is your main priority as usual.  Now I know you will come back with more drivel, maybe while you are losing weight, you can lose your mightier than thou attitude!  We couldn't be that lucky could we?
Sorry,
^ I'm sorry that you can't walk, Janie! One of my distant cousins has diabetes and her arches have fallen as well. She has asked for a foot reconstruction as it is permanent for her, apparently they are hard to do, and she has to wait for her other leg (which had to be amputated at the knee) to heal before they can do anything. I hope it doesn't get that bad for you. I can just see you chasing your kids around on a unicycle! LOL! _popupControl(); I am sorry, Janie. I hope your feet will be going off strike soon.

Lev? You are fat? Yeah.... I guess that is a reason for your attitude. Were you  a little fat boy that got picked on while in school? How long ya been fat?
Janie,

I have the same problem.  My feet were so swollen last summer that I lived in Joseph Siebel sandals and didn't realize that my left foot was turning in.  Last fall I went to a shoe store that specializes in foot problems in search of a good pair of shoes.  I ended up with orthotics and ugly black oxfords with rocker soles.  I call them my clown shoes.  I have a bone protruding from the arch in my foot.  The shoes are supposed to keep it from getting worse, but won't make it better.  They gave me a stretching block to do exercises also.  My orthotist said that I can get Mary Janes when I get my next pair of shoes.  I need something with a strap for support.  Can't wait because that means I can wear skirts  and capris again. My clown shoes don't exactly make a fashion statement with them.  They are comfortable, just clunky and unattractive.

Good luck.  I hope you can find some relief.  It is so frustrating when our feet don't work.
