My foster daughter Holly who I love dearly (I will have to tell you more about her sometime) called and said she has Epstein Barr.  She works in a hospital and says that she cannot be around people with compromised immune systems.  She said she should not see me if I get on biologic.  Can this be correct?  I love her dearly.  We don't get to see each other often but the idea of never getting to spend time with her again is heart breaking.  Is she misinformed?

She might be right Roxy; Look up Epstein Barr and see what you can find on your own.

Talk to your RD as well. There might be precautions you can take to protect yourself. I'm not real sure.

I'd actually researched that not too long ago; I can't even remember why....and now I can't really even remember what it is!!

I'm going to look it up real fast myself.

Oh yeah; simular to Mono. Yeah....I'd be careful Sweetie. I know that's not something you want to hear, but it's better you know. She had mono really bad.  Had to be hospitalized now she has Epstein Barr

Check out WebMD for more details. I'm sure you've looked into it.

I just looked it up.I saw an article that says that if you just came down with mono you may be infectious for a few weeks. But after that no threat to anyone since some healthy people also carry the virus around in their mouths and show no symptoms.

I hope you do get to see her soon.

be careful thats highly contageous its a fancy name for MONO...................

She (Holly) is supposed to be a "carrier".  She has it for life.  She gets the symptoms and has to go on short term disability.  Has been hospitalized for it three times.  She is in southern CA now but I miss her.
