I had my first shot Tuesday night.. I felt great Wednesday and Thursday.with more energy and less discomfort and swelling.... Today, I am exhausted.. My right ankle and knee are all swollen again .... It's just after 8 pm here and I'm ready to go to bed!!

Is this usual?

Has it happened to you?

Will I or could I have longer stretches of good after each injection?

thanks for your replies..

babs
Enbrel can take weeks before it kicks in and you get the full effect.  It doesn't make me tired, but eveybody's different.  Hang in there and give it time.  I hope you feel bette tomorrow.  :)the first two days I felt incredibly great!!

today.........  I'm exhausted.........

maybe I over did it??
Maybe so, it's easy to go nuts when you feel good after feeling so bad for so long.thanks!!
I'm trying to pace myself better..  I think I really exhausted myself.

always.remember.to.save.energy!!!

I just felt so extraordinarily good on Wednesday and Thursday... I was hoping it would carry over longer.

My oldest daughter called Wednesday night and said that my voice sounded so much better.. lighter.. not tired..

I'm hopeful that the good feelings of Wednesday and Thursday will last longer w/ each subsequent shot.
Babs10,

That happened to me too.  I felt better for a few days, then worse.  I kind of felt like it was wearing off before the next shot.  I never felt like the Enbrel mad me tired, but I felt that RA fatigue was coming back.  I have to say that during those "down times," I still felt a lot better than before I started taking it.

Of course, after my third shot, I got sick and had to quit it for a while.  Then when I started taking it again, it did the same thing.  At the one month mark, I leveled out and felt really great.  Since that time, I've only had two occasions where I had one (really, just one!) joint that hurt for a day or two, but that pain was nothing compared to what I had been going through before the Enbrel.

The nurse from Enliven Services told me that it could take up to 3 months for full benefits from Enbrel.  So, hang in there Babs!
Hi babs. I too felt great after my enbrel and then two days later i was really bad. I am not on it anymore but the more i used it the better i felt, i stopped taking it due to a bad reaction.I take my shot on Monday. I have to take benedryl with it for two or three days. I am somewhat allergic and itch and break out in hives. The benedryl helps. I am tired Tues. and Weds. probably cuz' of the benedryl. Thursday and Friday are my best days. Sat. & Sun. I am filling run down and ache. My morning stiffness is pretty much gone. I still have pain in my hands, left foot, and left hip alot but it is milder than before enbrel. I think I have been taking it for 3 or 4 months. I can't remember. I go to rd on May 1st.
I hope it works for you and soon!
The first time I was on Enbrel it took 1 shot to work. I was just recently put back
on Enbrel and it took 6 injections for it to kick in .
Everyone is different on when it will start working .
I think it is good that you had a couple of good days after your injection and hopefully you will have more days as you continue .   Good luck to you!!
Thanks!! I appreciate your posts... and those similar and different....  I take the second shot tonight..

Can ya believe it? I'm anxious in a positive way to give myself a needle!!  [QUOTE=babs10]Can ya believe it? I'm anxious in a positive way to give myself a needle!!  thanks Stephen..I wish you well.

I have to postpone my shot at least til tomorrow.. It appears I "may" have an infection in one of my eyes.. though it could be just irritated by allergies and the tear duct plugs installed last week..

here's hoping it's just an irritation!!
