I've read on a few sites that taking the combined pill can lessen the symptoms of RA - anyone got any views on this?

hey julie,

I've read alot about hormones and RA,  seems like there might be a link.  I had a hysterectomy 5 years (ovaries and all).  My MD took me off of hormones 2 years ago.  Then poo poo hit the fan.  This RA started slow but has become full blown.  I started back on hormones last month, not noticing a real big change yet. I'm gonna keep taking them for a couple more months and see what happens.  Will let you guys know.

Feel Better,

KAT

julie ive been on birth control for a year now and i cant really tell the difference.  but it might be different for everyone.

I've gone through menopause already myself....but after my daughter was born I took Birth Control Pills for more than 8 (might have been 7?) years. I can say that they did not keep RA at Bay in my case.

At age 34 I take HRT. The doctors aren't 100% sure if early menopause was caused by my years of RA medications....or actually RA it's self. There's a good chance it could be either one they say.
