Ok Now I am Just Annoyed! (vent) | Arthritis Information

RD RXed me Ultracet and Ultram ER for my pain since I did not want anymore Darvocet.

Well... I read the leaflet the pharmacy prints out, like I always do. And I am reading and reading and then I get to "Additional monitoring of your dose or condition may be needed you are also taking blah blah blah and tricyclic antidepressants (such as amitriptyline)."

Well on the same RX note was Nortriptyline 50mg. The pharmacy filled both of them at the same time, and did not even catch the interaction between the 2.

So... now I have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to call RDs office and see what I am suppose to do for pain now.

When I called in my refills for Robaxin, I was looking at the wrong bottle which was Darvocet they are both in big bottles. So... I punched in the # and it said I had no more refills. I was like what the heck... I am suppose to have 4 refills left on Robaxin, well... I look at the bottle and it is my Darvocet bottle. DUH! So... I then punch in the # for Robaxin and hung up.

Go to get my meds today... and there was a bottle of Darvocet along with my Robaxin. So... I do have something for pain, but I am only allowed to take 2 a day. And the Darvocet is taking hours to kick in to take away this hip pain I am having.

I am just soo annoyed right now. And sleepy because I took a Darvocet & Robaxin about 5 hours ago, and I am just feeling tired now.

I just want to go to sleep and wake up and be living in WalGreens Perfect town, where nothing goes wrong and everything is Perfect!I am sorry Joonie. I know how you feel....I have one pain pill left until May 1st when I see rd. He won't rx me anymore. I had to call 3 times and practicaly beg for a refill. He gave me vicodin 500mg and I have been on 750mg for over a year (which I'm sure is in charts) well needless to say, I ran out early because 500 doesn't work and I had to take 1 1/2 or two when pain is real bad. This sucks! Nurse had the gall to tell me that the dr said I couldn't be in that much pain. How does he know? I haven't seen him since Jan. I haven't had any xrays from him or mri's just bloodwork. Next appt will determine whether I keep or lose him. He better tell me something good!
Hang in there, go to sleep and rest when you can.

Joonie; sounds like the pharmacy just called in your Darvocet for refill. That's how my pharmacy handles it. I never call the Dr. office for a refill on anything. The pharmacy always calls them for me. It's so much easier that way.

I'd just suggest calling your pharmacy about the drug interactions. Additional monitoring doesn't mean you can't take it. We all require additional monitoring. That's why we go every three months (Or more often) to have blood work.
Alot of my meds. pop up with additional monitoring.  As long as you keep your dr.'s appointments, you should be ok.I remember that the Medrol pack info said I should be carefully monitored.   Those interaction warnings also pop up with dextromethorophan (Robitussin DM), flexeril, migraine meds, SSRI's, lots of stuff.  If I were you, I would call your pharmacist and/or doctor to verify.  If the pharmacist didn't pull you aside and speak with you, he/she probably thinks it's OK (or they already called your doctor).  Most pharmacy information systems flag such potential interactions and require the pharmacist to acknowledge that they've seen the warning.
