foot is freaky | Arthritis Information

Last night while relaxing in my recliner with my feet up, my left foot started cramping and was contorted to the right and all twisted and arched. Freaked me out! While yelling out cusswords I tried to get the recliner foot rest down and couldn't. My son and hubby were looking at me like I was crazy! Son says walk it out. I couldn't even put it on the floor. Finally I did and was screaming in pain and finally after about 2 minutes, it went back to the right position. It still is hurting and I have been limping since then. I am afraid to move my foot.

Has this ever happened to anyone?
I did have it happen to my fingers on right hand a while back. My middle finger suddenly cramped up and was stuck up against my palm. Both feel like a muscle cramp like you get in your calves. Horrible pain for a few minutes then just reg. pain after. I took a muscle relaxer and fell asleep in chair last night because it hurt too bad to go to bed.
I have been feeling decent with my enbrel for a few months except on bad weather days. We are having t-storms and lots of rain and we had a EARTHQUAKE in central IL. SO< Things are really weird here!
I have that cramping more with my toes, but every once inawhile the foot as well.  Not as long as your episode, but it was painful.   Not sure what causes it, but trying to eat more bananas in case I'm low on potassium. I sometimes get cramping on the top of my foot amongst all the small joints.
I have also had a pain down the outside of my arm into my little finger with the finger sticking out. Just could not move the finger at all.....completely rigid.
elaine50002008-04-20 16:44:44I use to have that happen to my feet as well. RD told me to eat more potassium since that helps with muscle cramps and spasms.  Gotta love bananas. My right foot feels like it asleep all the time. I walk on it and rub it and nothing helps. I've had it x-rayed, been to a neurologist and still no answers? I also get the cramping in the toes and my foot becomes distorted and there is nothing you can do but just watch it and it freaks me out! I have no idea what it could be from. Does anyone out there have a similar problem with the foot feeling like it's asleep all the time? I have the foot falling asleep issue.  I notice it when I'm in a meeting and sitting in one place for awhile.  Doesn't help that I cross my legs out of habit. Same thing if I'm reclining back on the couch and have my legs crossed at the ankle.  Seems to be a pattern with crossing my legs/ankles and feet falling asleep - I think I know the answer......My left foot falls asleep all of the time too.  Sometimes it's my whole leg.  Most of the time when I cross my legs or my ankles, but the other day it happened while I was driving on the highway.  Its hard to "wake" your leg up while driving! This wasn't falling asleep it was contorted. I try not to cross my legs cuz' my sis who's an RN told me it wasn't good cuz' it restricts the blood flow to your feet. I think it was a cramp. I plan on bringing it up to dr on May 1st. Can't wait 'til May 1st. Until then I'll eat some bananas and see what happens.
