I have been down for the count the last couple of days. I have been laying in bed taking pain pills and muscle relaxers. My right hip was sooo painful and my legs were jerking again while I slept... oh the whole body jerk is the worst! I could not walk, I did not even get out of the bed to use the bathroom much. I even declined going to wal-mart yesterday evening. Hubby knew I was going to say no, but he asked anyways.

I was thinking last night I sure hope this gets better by tomorrow. And it did! YAY!!

I had my Thyroid Dr appt today. A loooooong drive and hour & 30 mins each way!

My GP's office did not fax my file like they said they were going to do... so I had to wait until they faxed it before the Dr would see me. He got tired of waiting for them to fax it and went ahead and did his own ultrasound... which was good because my GP's ultrasound tech said I had 2 nodules, well... I have 4. One big one on the left & 3 small ones on the right. He said he was more worried about the big one because of how big it was and it being by itself.

He then told me he was going to biopsy the one on my left thyroid today. And I kinda freaked, but my mommy was there with me so I did not freak as bad.

Let me tell you this... I am not too keen on the next 3 being biopsied when I go back in 3 months. He said the other 3 were not really big enough to biopsy yet, so in 3 months he will check on the again, if this one he took the biopsy of does not show anything bad.

The biospy was painful and weird and really not something ever want to do again. The sucking of the fluid in the nodule was ok the first time, the second needle sucking was very very painful, and the 3rd needle sucking was about the same as the first one. I am so GLAD he did not use the 4th needle and that he actually got enough with the other 3 for the slides.

He said as big as the nodule on my left was that he was surprised I did not have trouble swallowing. Which I did not, but that one time when my neck was suck stiff from RA & fibro.

Oh well... my body hurts... done too much sitting up and walking today. I am off to take a  muscle relaxer my leg is having twitches again, so... if I take my muscle relaxer now... they will not turn into jerking spasms! Then I have to take muscle relaxers every 4 hours if I let it get that far. Sounds like a long, challenging day Joonie.  When will he know the results, did he say?  Did you like him?

Hope you get lots of rest tonight.  Take care.

I'm sorry you had to go through that!  I hope you feel better!

He said they will call me in a couple of days with the results. He was very nice and answered all my questions and my moms questions. He was not soo nice when he was "jabbing" my throat with 3 needles... but I guess he could have been "meaner" by "jabbing" the 4th needle in me.

Well at least your life isn't boring!  Hope you get some good answers soon Joonie.  Have a good sleep.

Joonie, Are you Hyper or Hypo Thyroid ??Thanks Everyone.

6t5frlane- I am niether hypo nor hyper thyroid. My thyroid levels are normal. Thyroid Dr read both bloodwork from ER visit and GP's. They both said they were normal.
Oh Joonie, it sounds like you've had it rough. I hope the biopsy comes back okay, and you are feeling better soon!OUCH Joonie! I know that was painful....but we're all proud of you for being strong and doing what needed to be done.

I'll be anxious to hear what the results are. Hopefully everything will be fine. Will they have to remove it? Or what happens next? Any clue?

How did they find this originally? I can't remember. Seems like I remember you having an ultrasound; but I can't remember what prompted it? The stroke?
Joonie, Do you know hat Thyroid tests they did?? Be Pro Active and ask. It sounds like you have been throught the mill but ask. My sister went through HELL until she was diagnosed with Graves disease ( Hyper ). You need TSH Free T3 Free T4 TRAB and TSI tests. TSI is a test for antibodies. Most DR's never ask for it but if your Hyper you will have TSI ( Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobin ). PLus One set of Labs shows nothing usually. TSH can flucvtuateI'm proud of you Joonie, Let us know when the results come throughJoonie: Thyroglobulin antibodies (tgab) is a different test than just testing thyroid stimulating immoglobulin (tsi). Also, was a calcitonin test ordered. These tests should have been ordered, too. However, if your tsi level is normal the tgab isn't usually ordered.
Been there and done that.  Take Care
Lovie - No clue, as to what is next. I did not think to ask. I was more asking how common infection is because I take a long time to heal. I still have those scabs on my chest from the 24 hour heart monitor patches. They found the nodules while doing my corotoid ultrasound, which was done to troubleshoot why my BP & pulse were  elevated.

6t5frlane & Watchingwolf - I done a quick look over my bloodwork and my file while I was waiting for the nurse to finish what she was doing... so I became nosey and was reading my file and all. I actually wanted to see how much wieght I gained since being put on Coreg. Looks like I gained 8lbs since being put on coreg. Most of that is water retention.

Anyways...

I looked at my bloodwork and they did a TSH both times. You would think the Thyroid Dr would have done more bloodwork. Which I figured he would do, but he did not. He just went by the bloodwork I had already had done.
