Hello:

I have been taking MXT and Remicade since June, it seems like it is not working any more.  I have been having monthly infusions since Dec before that I was on Enbrel  I think it is time to move on to  Humira.  I was wondering if any one knows how long I have to be off Remicade before I can start Humira.  Thanks to all who reply.  Have a wonderful day.

As far as I know. You can swap from one DMARD to another without any real problems unless their are governmental guidelines that say you can't. If one isn't working and you present that to your doctors, there should be no reason to just not move onto the other. Humira stopped working for me and after about two months I said to my RD that I felt we needed to change, he investigated further and said he thought that I had built an immunity the biologics so he started all the process for Rituxan.

Talk to your doctors...they should be able to give you some indication of what will happen.
Hello,

FINALLY a question I know the answer to!!!! YAY!!

The answer is 8 weeks. When I went to new RD, she wanted to switch me from Humira to Remicade. I had already been off the Humira for 2+ months because of bladder infections. But by the time insurance prior authorized it had been another 2 months, for a total of 4 months since last Humira injection.

This time RD is switching me from Remicade to Orencia and she said there was an 8 week waiting period when switvhing biologicals.

So... 8 weeks.

Hope that helps!
