Sore to the touch! | Arthritis Information

Hi guys, I know that fibromyalgia can cause all sorts of muscular pain, but do any of you have pain and real tenderness pretty much everywhere if you press lightly with your fingers.  Mine is all over , it feels like bad bruising, I know I have got costochondritis, but my ribs are super painful?  My GP still says we are missing something in my diagnoses'.  I think my GP is suspecting Pagets disease as it was mentioned by the pathology lab the other day. Does anyone have this?  The bones all over are very sore to touch also.  Try googling Pagett's disease, it is a bone disorder also.  Regards and thanks guys from Janie. hi janie i have had painfull ribs whith ra this goes after depomedrol injection..
i have not had it scince putting pred dosage up. so i would say mine is
inflamation related maybe the muscles.. i hope they sort you out..

Hi Janie, I hope you are well (considering) and the air boot isn't causing you too much trouble!

With my fibro I never really had that tenderness to the touch, only when my Dr pressed my tender points. Now I'm noticing I am tender and sore much more with the RA, like if anything even goes near my knees and other joints affected I can feel it, its very very painful even if I knock it a bit, and feels like bad bruising too, so it must be frustrating to have it all over. I don't have that pain in unaffected joints. I doubt that it is the fibro affecting you. Sore ribs and trouble breathing can be a symptom of AS too, have you been checked for that as well?

I sure hope you start feeling better soon though.Well the actresses on the Lyrica commercial certainly thinks they're tender to the touch.  Sorry, couldn't resist.  Janie, I don't know if you have that television commercial in Australia, but the two actresses they've gotten to do it are just super-annoying.  Hope that doesn't push anyone away though, because Lyrica is one of my favorite meds. (OK, it's really sad that I have a "favorite med".)  Anyway...

Yes, I do get tender to the touch.  Sometimes I'll just rest my hands on my legs when I'm sitting in a chair, and then pull them away real quick because it hurts my thighs.  Sometimes I feel that on my rib cage (I have costo too but that's usually up on the chest wall for me) and occasionally it feels like it's all over.  But usually it is confined to certain spots.

I don't know anything about Pagets.  Janie do you see a rheumy too?  Have they shed any light on it?

Boney, an air boot is a type of air-filled "cast" to insulate the foot/ankle from movement.  If my brain is working right (which is doubtful), I think I remember that Janie fractured her foot.
thanks innerglow .. Pain has a tendency to spread--they use the term radiating pain. The rib cage is almost like a wind chime in construction and costochondritis might make you feel everything hurting. InnerGlow~I can't stand those commercials either! THeir almost as bad as the long, long, long celebrex one. Lyrica is also my favorite med.

Janie~I don't know much about your questions; but I wanted to send my encouragement. You've been through so much. Keep your chin up. I hope things improve for you soon.
Could there be a possibility that what you're dealing with is polymyalgia rheumatica(PMR) and not fibro? Perhaps that's what the missing link is? It isn't unusual for doctors to miss this dx.

Pray you feel better soon.  *Gentle Hugs*
watchingwolf2008-04-25 10:41:18My husband has Paget's disease and it's just starting to bother him again.  Several years ago he was put on some medication that wasn't helping at all.  My husband did his own research and told his doctor to put him on Actonel.  After several months of that his blood work improved so much that he was able to go off it and has been symptom-free for several years.   He's the kind of guy who hates pills and won't even take an aspirin, but the Actonel really helped him so he may go back on that again to regain remission if his pain starts up too badly again and his blood work gets worse.   hi, what is Pagets??

I understand about the touch, ( i don't have any pain w/ ribcage)... mine is different..
its a bipolar.. manic-d thing.. sometimes, i just feel like all my nerve endings are raw and open and can't stand to be touched.. i'm always wearing loose clothing, and esp sleep.. nude! Lol... and also the Ra, my main joints are definately tender.... so i understand what you're saying.

Ps: are you guys talking about that fibro commercial, w/ the lady w/ the journal, she annoys the heck out of me too!!! arghh.. ahhh.. so its just not me.. yay!!! lol
