Anyone have itching spells with Celebrex? | Arthritis Information

This is like fire ants got a hold of my hands.  It only lasts for about 10 minutes and then goes away.  I had 3 spells yesterday and one this morning.  It doesn't happen right after I take it, either.  My last dose was last night and it hit this morning before my next one.  I know itching is a side effect but would have expected it to be all over or more continuous.

Anyone else?

Definitely talk to your doctor about this.  Celebrex can cause reactions in people allergic to aspirin, or sulfa drugs. Sunam, you be very very careful with celebrex my husband almost died from it. He took it for a year and stoped and a year later he was having problems and he put him back on it. And when he took it he started to break out all over with a rash and then he could not breath so when we took him to the doctor right away and the doc said you can never never take another celebrex. It said that he would die next time. So you be very care. Joan Call your doctor. Joanit's possible that some of the itching from celebrex could be due to the sulfa component. Celebrex should not be taken by people who have sulfa allergies. To my knowledge, I don't have any sulfa allergies but haven't taken many Rx to know.
After having several "attacks" I decided to stop taking it and see what happened.  I had taken 4 doses and it took about 24 hours and the attacks lessened and then stopped by this afternoon.  The bummer is that the joint pain was almost completely relieved!!

I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and see if they have any suggestions.  Hopefully there is an alternative I can try.  They gave me samples of Celebrex so at least I'm not out any money.  Maybe they will have samples of something else!

Thanks guys!

Itching - It was the worst. Itched without a rash but my doctor at the time obviously didn't take notice of the drugs I'm allergic and sensitive to.  I shouldn't have ever been prescribed Celebrex. Also, my fingers, wrists, knees and ankles puffed up. I didn't care for it myself. Then I saw an md that wasn't my regular doc and he was not a fan himself and took me off right there. I've been taking relafin since and much happier. He said there were quite a few sudden deaths associated with celebrex and that bothered him. That was over 5 years ago too.Wow!  That's frightening!  He just called in Arthrotec which seems to have had some positive effects on the boards (just did a quick search)  Hoping it won't break the bank but also want to be proactive with this stuff.
