Would the bone density scan show erosions if I had them? I just had one of those and all that was said was I had just the beginnings of osteopena or something like that.

They can find some things on the first bone density scan
but will find more on the second because they have something
to compare it to . ( if there is a change in the second test )
 

wanttobeRAfree, the bone scan I mentioned is the one where they inject you with a radioactive tracer first.  I believe this is different from a bone density scan, which is basically an x-ray. The nuclear bone scan shows new areas of bone growth, which represents damage that the body is trying to recover from. 

I think what you're talking about wantttoberafree is the dexa scan. You lay on the thing and the thing scans over your hips and spine?
 
I've had two of those myself. The first one only showed osteopenia in my hips but the second one a year later showed it in my spine as well.
 
If it shows anything else they didn't mention it to me.
