Commentary on direct to consumer drug ads:

From the article:

"DTC advertising is also a catalyst for and similar to disease mongering.

Disease mongering is the creation of medical flaws through exaggeration and embellishments through media sources and propaganda, as often seen with DTC advertising.  Yet the flaws may not be medical, but corporate creations of questionable human ailments that do not require treatment, possibly.  One of my favorites is the new indication for the use of an anti-depressant for a social disorder.  This used to be called introversion, a term created by Dr. Carl Yung.  And it is a personality trait, not a medical disease.  There are other questionable medical conditions claimed in the contents of DTC commercials, as the creators wish to grow the market for a particular, and possibly fictional, disease state.  Then there is baldness treatments advertised.  Lifestyle meds are not treatment meds for illnesses. "

Fabulous find Suzanne.

Did you know if you reply in the thread, or when starting a new thread, that if you place the link on the next line down, highlight it, and hit the hyperlink button, it will create a link to the article?

P.S. you have to get rid of the extra http// thing or the page won't display.

No I didn't because...what's a hyperlink button LOL.

Okay, somewhere on that trustedmd site, there is an article about 'never events' (that is in the title) and it mentions wellness as a never event - says it should be completely separate from medicine.  And explains never events LOL.

If hit the reply button on the top right of the post - not at the bottom of the page - or when it's a new thread - you get more 'options' for your post.  The top line has the smiley's in it.  If you hover over the icons you'll see the 6th one over is 'insert a hyperlink'.  So, you've copied and pasted a link into the text.  Then you highlight it and hit that button.  A new page will pop up with your hyperlink in the page.  But, if you look closely, you'll see the http is twice so you have to delete that - when you do your link goes 'live'.
