So, back to the pain guy today. Don't know if it is a good thing or not when the office staff smiles and waves when you walk in and know you by name.

Anyway, we have been trying to solve this neck, shoulder, chest issue. Let me just say---today was rough. My sternum was really red and inflammed. So, instead of doing nerve block-he decided to focus on the chest. He did 4 steriod injections. OMG...I wanted to cry but I didn't. I didn't realize until after the fact that I had tears rolling down my cheeks. He said that I get the gold star for today.

I really hope this helps. He said that he can't feel the edges of my ribs where they meet the sternum. He feels that this is either due to degeneration-not good, or that the ribs are constricted so tightly due to inflammation. Either way, the injections should provide some relief. He also prescribed dexamethasone for two weeks. Isn't this a steriod? If so, why not just take pred? Hmmm.....

So, for now I feel like some stabbing victim. My son is staying with my parents and getting spoiled big time. This will allow me to take a long hot bath and take it easy. I am worried about tomorrow since whenever I get injections, they tend to hurt worse the second day.hi rocckyd gees 4 injections in the chest..thats gotta hurt,

You get 10 gold stars from me you poor thing! That would have scared the bejesus out of me.

Hope you feel better soon!
At least you weren't given that potion with eye of newt. Take as many gold stars as you can hold! You've been very brave!  Oh Yes... you very VERY brave!!! You know how I am about needes.

I hope tomorrow is not as bad as you predict it to be, but a much better less pain day!

Much Hugs!!
hope you have a good day tomorrow with no lingering after effects!!   You had quite a day!

hope you're feeling better!! I think you deserve a cookie too. I hope you can get some relief soon! Thanks guys. I guess my biggest fear is that it is degeneration occuring. What can they do for that? We don't know why the RA has settled there. The hospital is a teaching hospital so the dr has med students and residents come in and feel up the chest as well. Great Fun!! The Orencia has really kicked in everywhere else-just not the neck/chest. They have even retested me for other things and RA is what keeps popping up. Not the RF but the Anti-CCP and sed rates eleveated. Plus, the other joint are apparantly "classic RA". I am worried that my chest will always be like this. Really folks-breathing is not an option. Plus, if they are going to be messing with the chest-they could do some "enhancements" while they are there. Now that would be a beneficial doctors visit :)
