Fibro - I have it? | Arthritis Information

Apparently that's what the doc says!

I do have some swelling, but there is no damage in any x-ray and my blood work is 110% normal.

She pushed and poked and prodded and said "does it hurt here?" some of it was joint pain, but really only in my right knee. Which I'm aware is just effed up anyway. lol

The areas that she poked and I had to restrain myself from smacking her, were all Fibro "spots"

So off to the pharmacy with noratrip...ta...lin..stuff.....yeah......Joonie, what the hell is it called? LOL

Give it a couple weeks, see how it goes.

So that's my news. I feel weird. I feel justified in some respects, because I KNEW it wasn't RA. Once I got that neck swelling down with the Zyrtec, I just knew something wasn't right. It was all new feelings.

And there you have it.

She did agree that SOMETHING is lingering in my knee. But what?? OA? I dunno. The JRA tore it up a bit growing up, so I suppose it's possible.

Tune in next time, when I have my knee x-ray results! hi arris great news on your xrays and bloodwork  Do you mean you outgrew your JRA? Is that possible?

Fibro doesn't sound like anymore fun than RA that's for sure. My brother in law is one of the few males that has it and he feels just miserable.

Hope your medication makes you feel better.
Yep, that would actually mean I outgrew the JRA.

Wouldn't that be AWESOME?!?!

It all depends on the knee x-rays though!
I hope you have outgrown it. That would be great news.

Let us know about the knee....Thanks Snow :)

I think the worst things for me right now, are my fatigue and how crappy crappy crappy I feel when I wake up. I'm so SORE.

Like I've been hiking in the mountains in high heels for a week. >.<

GAG!
You deserve time off for good behavior, but if your RA is in remission or gone that's good!  I'm glad it's not RA, but sorry it's fibro. I have described fibro pain to the pain you feel after running a marathon, or doing 2 days straight of yard work (when you are way out of shape). It's kind of the best way to describe it for me when people have never heard of Fibro, because they are still out there.
I hope the meds help. I take neurontin and it helps so much. I did not realize how sick it made me, until I started to feel better. Initially, I thought I would have severe arthritis, because it was so out of control. Other than the pain, the lack of sleep had to be the worst symptom. The meds have made a big difference there.
Keep us posted on  how you are feeling.
Katie, I'm so glad to hear from you! I haven't been able to be on everyday for a while, now, but I haven't seen your name much, when I do check in.

Great news about the RA and your tests! But I'm sorry you have fibro. I remember, when they test your trigger spots for fibro...you find you have pain in places you never even knew hurt!

There are times when my husband will hug me or just touch me in passing, and it feels like I've been hit with a 2x4. The worst for me, is when the bed sheets and covers hurt! I have slept with a sheepskin under my feet for a long time. It makes a huge difference. My feet used to feel like someone had sanded them with an electric sander during the night. The sheepskin helps a lot.

I am amazed that JRA can be outgrown! I never knew that, but what good news! Hopefully the doc can give you something to help the pain of fibro. I know a lot of people love Lyrica. If they have you try that, make sure you do it on a day you don't have to drive, cause it can really make you light-headed and dizzy. I know some folks get used to it and are not bothered by dizziness, but it made me so crazy I had to stop.

I hope the noratriptaline (?) helps you. I think that is the one Joonie takes. I really don't know anything about it. Please let us know how you are feeling and if the med helps.

Take care!

Gentle hugs, Nini
Hey Arris,  I am sorry to Here your DX.  It may give some clarity about the way you feel.  It sucks when you are dealing with both.  I do want to tell you about these patch's my Doc. gave me .  There called Lidoderm (Lidocaine). They do help some, They deaden the pain on my hips.  And are good for the shoulder's I know you are still working so it may help get you through the day. There scripted.  NutSee... when you do not relate to other peoples posts, ya might get the idea that ya got something else going on.  That is how i felt for a while, and then I realized... I probably had fibro. Like my then doctor would even check me for it... he did not even treat my RA right.

But once I got the new RD and she gave me Nortriptyline, some of my pain was less, then it had been, but not completely. RD upped me to 50mgs last visit and said if that did not help then she was switching me to something else... what else I do not know.

The Nortriptyline should help ya sleep and feel better.

Since being upped to 50mg my sleep is more deep now. Probably not a good thing when I am the one who is suppose to wake everyone up and I have not heard the alarm clock since being bumped to 50mg. Been having a lot of nice dreams too! Always a good med when dreams are involoved!

Hope the new med helps ya!
Hi Katie: I hope the meds work well and fast!
take good care!!Thanks everyone!

Nini!! *hugs* Miss you :) Yes, I understand what you mean! Justin is sweet and if I ask him he'll give me a back rub/arm rub/leg rub/etc etc. There are lots of places he can't even touch on me, and it's always been like that. For some reason I never equated that with Fibro. Duurrrrr!!!!

Joonie, she started me on 10mg, because I'm such a lightweight and she knows it. LOL I have permission after a week to up it to 20mg and go from there. I know how pathetic I am with pills though, and I'm sure the 10mg will knock my ass right out!!

Is it on Walmarts list? She wasn't sure when I asked her.
Hi Katie, sorry about your diagnosis but kicking RA out the door must be a great feeling, I think you should buy a lottery ticket.  Keep up the treatment and hopefully you will be under control before you know it.  Regards Janie. I'm sorry you got to trade one for the other. I dont really knnow first hand which is worse.
Hope yor pain meds help.
Yeah it is on wal-mart list. Katie!!! running up hugging then pushing into the lake!!
HA! got you!! lol

thats way cool that you might not have RA

Cool Beans~.. but don't stop coming here!!!

When i first got RA, getting up and the soreness took hours,

  hugs
Katie~ and hey thats what bfs are for, Massages and, you know the other..

nina, have you tried the 350 plus thread sheets and higher, esp sateen?
They make a huge diff!! i have tender spots too, and bipolar, sometimes can't have anything touch me..
for me, sometimes, even the Oprah mag is too darn heavy and hurts to pick up..
sheepskin, hmmm and yumm, i remember a friend gave me some for me car, when i had one... ahh luxury!!!
Katie, I'm so sorry that you have fibro. Hopefully, the meds will help. I'll send you positive thoughts that the JRA is gone and that the knee is okay.

Sorry that I haven't been keeping up with the board. Have been busy getting my car repair after the collision with the parking post.

Take care,

marisa
Wow, you outgrew the JRA.  How wonderful is that??? Even with your fibro DX, this is amazing news.  Now it's just one step at a time until you and your doctor come up with the right medication for your fibro.  You're almost there!! Congratulations.  Hey Katie!

Hugs on the Fibro but cool that you got diagnosed!
