RA Misdiagnosed for 8 years! | Arthritis Information

Hi all new to the site and wanted to drop a line or two.  As the topic reads I was Mis diagnosed for 8 years before finding a doctor that took time to examine me and find my RA.  At the start it was only one or two joints here and there that was effected and quickly spread through out my body.  But in the eight years time damage is already taken its toll and left me unable to make a fist and fused finger joints. During the 8 years all RA profiles run on my blood revealed nothing.  Eight years later a CRP test was run showing levels through the roof!  Just about two years ago I started Enbrel and had great results but being a self paying patient couldn't afford the cost of Enbrel and had to go off it for a short while until just about three weeks ago and now have insurance so I have started it back.  I'm looking forward to feeling great again but as all of you know pain becomes part of daily life and you do become some what used to living with it.  At one point I thought even walking would be something I may never be able to do on a normal basis with out limping.  Three weeks ago I started the Enbrel Sure Click and I couldn't be happier!  I'm able to give myself injections and they are now virtually pain free!  Before my wife (who's a nurse) gave them to me and some of the shots would almost bring me to tears.  To anyone new reading this or some of you steady members I'm living proof there is help out there as long as you find a Doctor willing to take the time to listen and help! Hi, Sorry it took so long for a dx but glad you finally got something to help you.

Nice to meet you!
take care
Hey Shad ,  Nut here .... you will find some really great people at this site.  It is terrible to hear that you had to wait that long to be DX.  I was on ENBREL with no success, but I do get to start Rimacaide next week.    It's a pleasure to meet you .....NutHi and welcome!

Hi and Great hearing from everyone!  Nut sorry to hear Enbrel did nothing for you?  Have you tried Humira?  I've heard that sometimes it works on people Enbrel has no effect on.

Everyone else thanks for the Welcome!
Shadrach,  My Doctor originally wanted to put me on Rimacaide.  The Insurance company wouldn't approve it.  I think my stat. were pretty high and he really didn't think I would benefit from it.  So to satisfy the ins. company I had to go on Enbrel.  Iwas hoping that it would work because of the convince of doing it at home.  On to Humira if this does not work....Welcome to AI Shadrach. Glad you're here.
