Interesting Fact | Arthritis Information

I thought this was interesting. I seen this before when I was looking up JRA and the different types. My mom does not remember which type of JRA I was DXed with. So... I was trying to figure it out myself but... could not make a decision.

Anyways...

It was once believed that children outgrow JIA, but it is now known that 25 to 70 percent still have JIA into adulthood.
Now... that range between percentages is a BIG gap!
[QUOTE=joonie]I No, LOL! Now that I went back to the website it was Abbott.

I've been running into a lot of those crazy percentages when researching the biologics too!

I'm like- why do I bother reading this crap? There are no clear answers to any of my questions...
For sure when statistics are put out by a drug company I'm immediately, if not sooner, totally skeptical. Well... see their stats were on like page 3 of the google search. The ones before that were from children hospitals and their percentages ranged too. Like on said 20% outgrew and another said 75% outgrew. Then I found the above. Which still did not explain for the range gap. Oh and one site said 50% outgrew. I am just confused... as to how it is "now known" when their stats are gapped so wide. I mean if they "now know" wouldn't the range gap be something like 50% or even 65-70% outgrow? Also from the article, this exciting news:
"The 48-week study of 171 children (four to 17 years old) found that fewer children treated with Humira experienced disease flare compared to placebo."

Fewer children flared compared to placebo.   Let's hope so.  Unless they had a really good placebo.  Be nice to have some percentages attached to that tidbit, wouldn't it?  And, would it be too much to ask that your child NOT flare while taking the risk of this med?
Yeah would be nice, but how would they know if the Humira was better treatment for JRA'er's than the placebo? No, I mean not flare on Humira.

Seriously, I bet some kids didn't flare on the placebo, either.  If they had outstanding results, they would be able to use more impressive language than  'fewer'.  That  could mean one less.  Probably does LOL.

I must be pms'ing today, my apologies....
Nah... I just probably mis-read what you were saying. Been doing that a lot lately.

But still it would benice if they did not flare while on Humira. Heck... it would have been nice if I did not flare while on Humira
