I guess this is not exactly what I thought it was. I thought it was a set amount. If you were single, you get 600, married, 1200, each child 300 with certain income guidelines. The calculator proves much different than what I expect. Am I just not getting it? Have any of you received yours yet and was it less than you expected?I THINK each individual  is eligible from 0-600.  If you don't normally pay income taxes, but have qualifying income of ,000, you receive 0, but you must file a 1040A form.  For those individuals that pay federal income tax, you can receive up to 0, but I believe that is dependent upon how much you pay in income tax for 2007, so you don't necessarily automaticly receive 0, it could be less, but not less than 0.

If you have questions, look on the irs website, or give them a phone call, I think the number is on the website.

Again, I''m not 100% sure about this, so its good to get precise info from the irs.

All I know is it's already spent. I have to lend it to my son (+ some more) for a new transmission in his car....Married couples have to make less than 150K combined to get the full amount; it is reduced if you make more. There's always been the story that it's not a set amount.

They've just never said specifically "okay, from this range, $XXX to $XXX you'll get 0 - from $XXX to $XXX you'll get 400...." etc etc etc.

It just says "it varies"

So you have no idea until you get it. Which sucks.
