what does fibro feel like? | Arthritis Information

hey what does fibro feel like?   because i ache all the time.   my muscles ache.  my whole body aches.  i feel like i have the flu.  a very bad case of the flu is how i describe this disease to most people.  yeah my joints flare, burn, feel like nails have been hammered in them.  so how does fibro feel?    o'k i have no energy too.  back to my question????   wonderwomanFrom what I read and the phamplet my RD gave me... sounds like fibro to me.

I am having fibro problems at the moment. Last night my arms were so weak that I could not lift the covers off of me. I had to call hubby into the room to do it for me. Of course, he laughed at me and called me weakling and said I would have been stuck if he was not home. Yeah WHATEVER!

That is fibro for me. And today I woke up with a fibro migrain! Yippy for me!! That is what RD said the pains in the back of my head that run from the base of my neck up to the middle part of my ears was... a fibro migrain. I am still in denial and even told her it was just the muscle, and she said its a migrain... then she offered to give me something for it and I was presistant and still told her no it was the muscle not a migrain. Now I am starting to believe her. But I have gotten these types of head pains when I was in teenage remission. I just am having a hard time connecting 2 & 2 2gether.
I don't know personally but my brother in law has it and when it's bothering him he just gets real quiet and he says he feels absolutely miserable. For me (so far) it's the "omg, how am I not more awake, I just slept 12 hours..."

And the "wow, it feels like I got hit by a card 5 minutes ago"

>.<

Sounds pretty much like I how feel on my bad fibro days. It's such an awful feeling. Talk to your RD about it. There are great meds out there that help alot. Good luck.

Hahaha Joonie, I mean "car"

Yeah.....I dont proof read....
From a former poof reader... I can't answer that question, but I have similar feelings often.  I wonder if I have crossover with fibro?  I've never had a dr touch the "points" but I have some places that are so painful when touched that I have to hold back a reactive *slap* to push the animal or person away because it hurts so badly. For me:
- excessive fatigue despite sleeping 15 hours a night.
- dizziness, headaches, feeling like you have the 'flu all the time, BRAIN FOG - can't concentrate on anything. You know when you are really sick and have a cold and you lie down and watch a TV show and you can't remember anything that happened? That's like my life when fibro is bad.
- muscle and pain and 'tiredness' "around" a joint. Not like RA where it is 'in' the joint, but like all around it.
- The muscle pain is like always there and it makes you pretty miserable. The pain is only about a 2-4/10, but it is always there.

_popupControl(); Fibromyalgia and Polymyalgia Rheumatica(PMR) pretty much have the same symptoms.

However, there is one Major Difference between the two and that is with  FIBROMYALGIA YOUR SED RATE ISN'T ELEVATED - WITH PMR YOUR SED RATE IS ELEVATED.

Unusual as it is PMR isn't usually one of Arthur's Gang dx. Guess they are looking for more severe types so they can pump drugs into a patient, which usually don't work long-term.
The treatment for PMR is prednisone and the good news is that PMR can clear up in as little as six months or up to five years. The incidence of it hanging on forever are low.
I was reading this post.. and trying to understand... bc w/ RA.. (don't have fibro and Refuse to even think about it!!! i mean seriously!!)

bc i have that feeling of the flu, the achyness, the pain, don't like to be touched..
my joints are swollen... so i don't know what the big diff is btwn fibro.. and ra.

Lets see those w/ fibro, could you load up 2 big huge concrete blocks and pull them all the way around the apt???

my friend w/ the fibro, does this stuff and makes fun of me, bc I REFUSE to over do and tax myself, besides I couldn't do that!!

and yeah, I'm soo heavily medicated, but even then, i get awakened in the night, w/ a jolt of pain in my knees...ok my little girl needs me... probably Food!!!

or mommys been asleep so long, i was wondering if she was ever going to wake up and give me ATTENTION.... like i never do! LOL
The latest edition, May/June 2008, of Arthritis Today has some truly informative articles.

1. Do-it-yourself pain relief for fibromyalgia is found on page 70.

2. Leg pain: The cause could be your arteries - not your arthritis is found on page 68.

3. The Cancer Connection is found on page 98.

4. Don't let "toxic people" hurt your health is found on page 38.

And there are so many more terrific articles. Too often there are issues which I find truly disappointing but not this one.
