OT I am officially OLD | Arthritis Information

Just found out my high school boyfriend is a grandfather.

So when did you find out you were old?

I only felt old after birth.

I now think I'm 'younger' than most of my old fogey friends.  LOL

Pip
I've really been feeling the creeks and groans for about five years but  started to feel old eighteen months ago when I came down with RA.

Since I have settled with the RA the graph has dropped a little.
Feeling old is the job of the body, it's when the mind feels old then the decay really sets in.
i felt really old when i sneezed and my  teeth flew out   Well... this year... I have felt old because it is high school reunion year.

Yeah... probably not going to go to it. I am such a loser. Not like I have done anything with my life. I would hate to have to answer "So what have you been doing since graduating?"

My answer: Had my daughter a month after graduation and then my health went down hill and got worse after having my son. Yadda yadda yadda. Blah blah blah.

I wanted it to go more like. I went to college got a degree, and work with computers.

Nope... not me.

I guess I can always say... raising smart kids?
dont foreget the alien abduction and getting probed.. I never feel old . Even with having Ra . I guess your as young as you feel.
I did meet a lady a few years ago that had her daughter at 15 and her daughter had a child at 15 . A grandmother at 30.Yeow!!
Yeah... boney! I forgot about my alien abduction and probing and proding LOL!!maimi :   I didn't start feeling old til I got this RA in Nov. At 47 I felt like I was 25 years old. I had flexability, stamina- no aches and pains what so ever!

Took me right out at the knees! Overnight! Went to bed healthy and strong woke up a cripple.

I'm much better now- but I definately feel 47 and to me that's old.

Boney you are TOO funny!

Never the land of make believe ! I just have never thought in terms of age .
I think more of the quality of life that you lead.

Wait - I didn't say FEEL old.  I just said I AM old LOL.  As in 'been around long enough there are TWO generations behind me now' LOL.

gees i must be 110  helloooo Noah  Pip, I'm with you, although I think it took me until about 16 or 17 to really start feeling old.  My father (now 84) always said "you're only as old as you feel" and I'd always answer that I feel about 99.  In the last few years, he's been saying "what are you going to do when you get to my age?" and I'd reply that I'm not planning to.

Really felt old when I bought compression stockings a few months ago.  Will definitely feel old at 20-yr high school reunion in November.  Joonie, I understand exactly how you feel.  But you've been busy being a mom, making invitations, heroically taking care of some health issues.  Don't let anyone make you feel bad...but I know it's easier said than done.  My ex-hubby will probably be there with his wife.  I'm friendly with him, but I know he will be gloating inside because while I'm on the verge of LTD, he just spent k adding a "cigar smoking room" over his garage with a balcony, where he's going to put the balcony chairs they have on Boston Legal (big $).  I think a lot of people from high school thought I wouldn't amount to much (I was an AP honor student, but ended up hospitalized for OCD and depression in my senior year) and I would hate for them to think they were right.  Because they're not.
lol suzzan we only feel old ..

Baby Boney   At 110 you must be Brittle Boney!!
Well I had a discussion with my daughter last week about "growing old" and worrying that I would turn into my mother.  (Way too complicated to explain that one.)  Anyway my 23 year old daughter told me she's not at all worried, because she says I will never get old.  "You've kinda got that Peter Pan thing going on Mom."

Now many people would be offended to have someone tell them that, but that was like the nicest thing she possibly could have said to me!
By the way, I always heard you know you're getting old when your Broad Mind and Narrow Waist trade places!
By the way, I always heard you know you're getting old when your Broad Mind and Narrow Waist trade places!
Thats funny !!
And your daughter sounds like a charm!!
i am old! sorry to burst everyone's bubble.   i am close to 48 (this month).   i have had severe RA for 21 years and 4 months.  i have never been pain free in all that time.  it has kept me from many things.   i have less than 3 hours a day to do things and that is on a good day.   i feel guilty because of the hardship i put on my husband.   my disease has cost us financially, emotionally, blah..blah..blah..blah.   many times i think about how much better off he would be without me.    p.s. we are under tornado warnings so my body is at war!    wonderwoman    broad waist count me in!  w.w. [QUOTE=Hillhoney  "You've kinda got that Peter Pan thing going on Mom."

the only Pan thing i have going on

is a Bed Pan....

Well... to bad they do not make scooby-doo under-roos in my size. Maybe they will make me feel young.

I am probably young at heart, because I LIKE toys! I visit the toy department first in every store we go to. I do not buy much, just what my kids collect or hubby collects. I did have a thing for Littlest Pet Shops, but they raised the price and the good ones got hard to get.
i would like some wonderwoman underoos.   in very large people size  Gee, perhaps we could use Sponge Bob jammys for incontinence?o'k i am old what, does OT mean?   what does LMAO or something like that mean?   the only abbreviations i know is LOL so help us old folks out.   wonderwoman   p.s. yeah a diaper type undies might be better for me too.   wonderwomanOT is off topic.  It is used for folks who choose to read only RA related topics and don't want to read non-medical threads.

LMAO  - Laugh My Ass Off
ROFL - Rolling on Floor Laughing
ROFLMAO - Well you can figure that one out!
BRB - Be right back

and there's many more.

good  idea  if  they  were made from actual sponge they would soak
it all  up  only prob is you would be twice the size in the morning.. thanks I think I began to feel old when I was on chemo, but the symptoms afterwards started to confirm it. My brain still thinks I am 25  So, how old is old?  60, 70, 80? maimi: Believe I "felt old" only for the moment. I'm 63 and when I look in the mirror I think I "look my age." However, people tend to take me for at least 10-years younger. Have been told it's because of my Love Of Life, including the ups and downs. You know - this is true!!

** Gentle Hugs ** To All
The ladies all think I look absolutely mabulous! I probably look 10 years younger than my 55, but I am starting to feel the years just a bit. We've just had my stepdaughter and family stay for a couple of days and I have to say that I felt young whilst keeping the 3 and 5 year old kiddies entertained but the body and mind crashed when they left yesterday.   I slept from 2 a.m. until nearly midday today

At 52 I have 5 lovely and lively step-Grandchildren under 5.  I think my body runs on adrenaline when they come visit me as I'm able to do fun things with them, but always crash after they go.  Thankfully, at this stage the families only come stay for 2 days at most.

Midgimoo: Agreed - it's nice they come to visit for only two or three days at a time.

It took maturity to realize what our mothers were telling us, "grandkids are the greatest but it's nice to know you can send them home."  * Gentle Hugs *
Well, they say houseguests are like fish - after 3 days they both need to be tossed out!  I still watch cartoons every Sat. morning. My 20 year old daughter tells me "I'm such a kid"!
The day I actually felt old was when I became a great aunt and my daughter graduated from high school. I am a kid at heart. Love cartoons and Disney movies. Have quite a collection! LOL
